A cable changer includes a cable guide for retaining a plurality of cables at different heights, and a cable feed apparatus for feeding one of the cables to a cable processing machine, the height of the cable guide being adjustable relative to the cable feed apparatus, such that the cable feed apparatus can feed different cables of the cable guide to the cable processing machine depending on the height of the cable guide relative to the cable feed apparatus. The cable guide has height alignment elements and the cable feed apparatus has height determination elements that are complementary to the height alignment elements, the height alignment elements and the height determination elements locking the cable guide at one of a plurality of specified heights relative to the cable feed apparatus when the height determination elements are connected to some of the height alignment elements.

An inspection apparatus for inspecting a cable end of a cable, with and without a connected crimp contact, includes a mirror apparatus with a central axis along which the cable end can be arranged for checking the cable end. The mirror apparatus includes a plurality of mirror elements arranged at a predetermined angle to each other and arranged at a predetermined angle to the central axis, each mirror element having a mirror arranged along the central axis for viewing the cable end from a different viewpoint. The inspection apparatus includes a camera for generating images of the cable end from the different viewing angles of the mirrors. At least a portion of each of the mirror elements is held in a respective position in the mirror apparatus by magnets.

A method for processing a cable includes a drawing-out step and a placement step. In the drawing-out step, a loop of the cable is drawn out over a guide body arranged on a loop placement surface. The loop is drawn out to a specified length using a driven dog. In the placement step, the loop is placed onto the loop placement surface by the dog. In the process, the loop is placed over the guide body.

Method and device for processing a cable

An inspection device for inspecting a cable end of a cable, with and without a connected crimp contact, includes a mirror arrangement having a central axis along which the cable end can be arranged for inspection. The mirror arrangement includes a plurality of mirrors arranged at a predetermined angle to one another and at a predetermined angle to the central axis, each mirror viewing the cable end from a different angle. The inspection device includes a camera for generating images of the cable end from the different viewing angles of the mirrors. A transparent disk is arranged between the camera and the mirror arrangement to prevent dirt and/or dust from moving from the mirror arrangement to the camera. A compressed air cleaning device cleans the disk and/or the mirrors with compressed air ejected along the disk and/or along at least a part of the mirrors.

In a method for stripping a cable having a multi-layered sheath, first, an initial layer of the sheath of the cable is cut in a stripping device using at least one stripping blade. This is followed by cutting an inner layer of the sheath located opposite the first layer using a laser beam of a laser cutting device. The stripping process is completed by removal of the sheath that was cut using the stripping blade and the laser beam.

Cable processing equipment for removing a screening film from a screened multi-core round cable includes four knives radially movable relative to the cable for cutting into the screening film. In that case, each knife is associated with a cable core of the round cable. The knives have concavely formed cutting edges and guide elements, which guide elements have guide sections in which the cable cores encased by the screening film are receivable. The knives protrude relative to the guide elements in the region of the guide sections by a projection length. The guide sections have a concave circularly cylindrical shape and form a concave abutment surface for the cable cores.

Cable processing equipment and method for removing a screening film from a screened multi-core round cable

A finishing installation for cables includes a cable unit, a cable feeder and finishing units. The leading cable end is seized by a loop-laying device and turned horizontally through 180&deg;. At the same time, the cable is advanced by a cable-advancing device and straightened by the straightening path. An encoder measures the length of the advanced cable, while a cable loop is formed during the advancing of the cable. For the taking-over, feeding and delivery of cable ends, the cable feeder has a first transfer unit, which is displaceable along a transfer guide, with a first gripper unit and a second transfer unit, which is displaceable along the transfer guide, with a second gripper unit. Control equipment controls and monitors the finishing installation, wherein the movements of, in particular, the transfer equipment and the gripper units are freely programmable.
