Systems, methods, and devices are disclosed for manufacturing a vapor transfer cartridge with a constant inner diameter to maximize the area available for fibers required for heating and humidifying a breathing gas. In one aspect, a vapor transfer cartridge includes a center tube extending along a first axis from a first to a second end, having a continuous inner diameter, a first header piece configured as a cap and including a channel about an inner circumference of the header piece coupled to the first end of the center tube, a second header piece coupled to the second end of the center tube, and a plurality of fibers arranged along the axis of the center tube from the first end to the second end. The first header piece further includes a first port, and a baffle.

Vapor transfer cartridge

A configuration of a blood microtubular filter/dialyzer used in many kinds of renal replacement therapy systems can provide a highly effective mechanism for removing air from the blood circuit of such systems. Air is removed from an outlet header space of the filter avoiding the need for a bubble trap or settling chamber such as a drip chamber.

Blood treatment dialyzer/filter for permitting gas removal

Devices, methods, and system that prevent clotting of blood during blood-processing procedures such as hemofiltration, hemodialysis, and hemodiafiltration are described. A filter with a cap has a housing that is shaped to receive a blood filter. The housing has an inlet for blood and may have an outlet for waste and ultrafiltrate. The cap is attached to the housing. The cap has an outlet for blood and a port adjacent the outlet for receiving dilution fluid. Methods of use during blood-processing procedures to provide immediate hemodilution to blood exiting entering and/or exiting a filter are also described.

Methods, devices, and systems for hemodilution

A problem in the manufacture of filters using tubular membrane bundles is keeping potting material from flowing into the openings at the ends of the tubes. A preferred embodiment of a method for manufacturing a tubular membrane filter employs a non-contact heat source such as radiant heating to melt the tips of the tubular membranes. This prevents the migration of potting material into the tubes when the potting material is flowed into the ends of tube bundles during the manufacturing process for a filter.

Method and apparatus for manufacturing filters

A device for potting a filter is described. The device comprises a housing having a first hole in the first region communicating between the surface and the lumen, and a second hole in the second region communicating between the surface and the lumen. A ridge extends around the first hole and the second hole to define a trough for receipt of a flowable potting material. During the manufacture of the filter assembly, the housing is rotated about an axis that bisects the housing and is perpendicular to an axis of the lumen, a flowable material is placed on the surface of the housing, a portion of the flowable material flows toward the first hole, is retained by the ridge, and passes through the first hole, and a portion of the flowable material flows toward the second hole, is retained by the ridge, and passes through the second hole.
