The present disclosure relates to a fuel tank comprising a filling tube opening via an inlet check valve into the fuel tank and comprising a venting device for discharging fuel vapors from the fuel tank. According to the present disclosure, the venting device has at least one venting line, which extends into the interior of the fuel tank and opens with an open end into a gas volume in the region of an upper wall part of the fuel tank, wherein the at least one venting line is guided such that it forms a siphon in the region of a lower wall part, and the inlet check valve has a bypass connection, to which the at least one venting line is connected.

Fuel tank having inlet check valve

A venting system for a fuel tank may include a first vent valve having an inlet, an outlet through which fuel vapor may be vented from the fuel tank, and a valve. The first vent valve may be located within a first chamber of the fuel tank. A second vent valve may have an inlet, an outlet through which fuel vapor may be vented from the fuel tank, and a valve. The second vent valve may be located within a second chamber of the fuel tank that is separate from the first chamber during at least certain fuel levels within the fuel tank. The support may carry both the first and second vent valves within the fuel tank and be movably carried within the fuel tank to vary the height of the first and second valves within the fuel tank as the support moves relative to the fuel tank.

Fuel tank venting system

A fuel system includes a fuel tank and a liquid separator. The fuel tank includes an interior in which liquid fuel and fuel vapor are contained, and has at least one vent in fluid communication with a vapor dome in the interior of the fuel tank. The liquid separator is in fluid communication with the at least one vent in the fuel tank, and has a fuel port disposed at a lower elevation than the at least one vent to enable the liquid separator to be passively aspirated under negative pressure conditions within the fuel tank. The liquid separator may be placed inside or outside the fuel tank.

Liquid separator and vented fuel tank arrangement

A fuel system with a fuel tank having at least one opening into an interior of the fuel tank, and an electrically operated vent valve having an inlet communicated with the interior of the fuel tank and an outlet for venting fuel vapor from the fuel tank. The vent valve is movable in response to an electric signal between an open position allowing fuel vapor through the outlet and a closed position to restrict fluid flow through the outlet. A controller is operably communicated with the vent valve to control application of an electric signal to the vent valve and thereby control at least in part the movement of the vent valve between its open and closed positions. In one embodiment the controller is responsive to a fill level in the fuel tank to control the position of the vent valve and thereby the fill level attained within the fuel tank.

Vehicle fuel system

A venting system for a fuel tank has an inlet opening that is communicated with a liquid separator arranged between the inlet opening and a vapor canister that preferably has an activated carbon filter. The liquid separator is preferably arranged in the interior of the fuel tank. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a plurality of vent lines are arranged in the interior of the tank with the inlet openings of the vent lines spaced apart from each other so that there is always at least one inlet opening not exposed to liquid fuel. A line between the liquid separator and the activated carbon filter communicates with the upper region of the liquid separator. These measures ensure that the fuel vapors which are to be vented can pass undisturbed through the liquid separator while any liquid fuel which enters the separator collects in its lower region.
