A method regulating the formation of a fibrous web, such as a paper, cardboard, or tissue web, in which method the formation of the fibrous web is measured online as a controlled variable and is held at a predefinable setpoint level via automatic formation regulation. In addition to the formation, the charge concentration of the suspension is measured as a controlled variable and is taken into consideration during the formation regulation.

A recording sheet for ink jet printing is described, which consists of a support having coated onto said support at least two ink-receiving layers, wherein the ink-receiving layer situated next to the support contains nanoporous silicon dioxide with a positively charged surface and at least one binder and the ink-receiving layer situated further away from the support contains nanocrystalline, nanoporous aluminium oxide or aluminium oxide/hydroxide and at least one binder and, optionally, nanoporous silicon dioxide with a positively charged surface.

Recording sheet for ink jet printing

An ink jet recording sheet is provided that delivers a photoparity image when printed with ink jet printer. The recording sheet comprises a two-layer coating. The bottom layer comprises amorphous silica and the top layer comprises spherical colloidal silica. Both silicas are rendered cationic. The recording sheet provides fast dry time, excellent image quality and superior water resistance and handle ability.

Ink jet recording sheet with photoparity

A recording sheet for ink jet printing is described, which consists of a paper support having coated on the front side of the support at least one ink-receiving layer consisting of fumed silicon dioxide with a positively charged surface and at least one binder, wherein at least one polyolefin layer is coated at the back side of said support and where there is no polyolefin layer between said paper support and the ink-receiving layer. Preferred is a recording sheet, wherein the surface of the fumed silicon dioxide has been modified by a treatment with the reaction products of a compound of trivalent aluminum with at least one aminoorganosilane.

An inkjet receiver layer is constructed of an alumina-containing layer also containing a binder with an essentially binder-free, colloidal, cationic silica top-coat. The colloidal cationic silica topcoat provides improved image quality (color gamut and gloss) and increased resistance to scratching, while maintaining a high absorption of ink.

An electrically active film and a process for its preparation at low temperatures are described. The electrically active film consists of a support having coated thereon at least one electrically active layer which contains nanocrystalline, nanoporous transition metal oxides, transition metal chalcogenides or their lithium inclusion complexes and, optionally, auxiliary, electrically non-active layers, wherein the electrically active layers still contain a binder or a mixture of binders at the end of the preparation process.

Electrically active films

A method of making an inklet recording sheet having pigment-binder gradient in the ink-receiving layer is provided. The method includes providing a support and forming an inkjet receiver layer over the support. The receiver layer has a lower-most portion over the support and an upper-most layer. The inkjet receiver layer is formed with a gradient in ration of binder to pigment ranging from more binder and less pigment in the lower-most portion and less binder and more pigment in the upper-most portion.

Method of making an inkjet recording sheet having pigment-binder gradient in the ink-receiving layer

An ink jet inkjet receiver layer on a substrate consists of at least two layers of similar composition of binder and pigment, except that the layer next to the substrate has a smaller pigment/binder ratio versus the layer laid on top of it. Multiple layers making up the gradient are included.
