Coloured transparent lithium aluminium silicate glass-ceramic and use thereof

A method is provided for separating a portion from a sheet-like glass or glass ceramic element along an intended separation line to divide the element into the portion and a main part. The method includes producing filamentary damages a volume of the glass or glass ceramic element adjacently aligned along the separation line, the filamentary damages are produced by laser pulses of a laser, the glass or glass ceramic element comprises a material that is transparent for the laser pulses; displacing incidence points of the laser pulses on a surface of the glass or glass ceramic element thereof along the separation line; and subjecting the material of the glass or glass ceramic element located in a region of the portion to a phase transition so that the material contracts to detach the portion from the main part at the adjacently aligned filamentary damages along the separation line, while the main part remains intact as a whole.

Method for laser-assisted separation of a portion from a sheet-like glass or glass ceramic element

A product is provided that includes a volume-colored monolithic glass or glass ceramic element and to a method for producing same. The glass or glass ceramic element has a first region in which the coloration is modified so that light transmission of the first region differs from light transmission of a second, adjacent region. The light scattering in the region of modified coloration in the glass or glass ceramic remains the same as light scattering in the second, adjacent region with non-modified light transmission.

Method for modifying the transmission of glasses and glass ceramics and glass or glass ceramic articles that can be produced according to the method

A method is provided for producing a raised feature on a glass ceramic element, in which a glass or glass ceramic element is irradiated with electromagnetic radiation in a local region of the surface, the radiation passes through the element and is at least partially absorbed thereby so that the element heats up in the region of the irradiated electromagnetic radiation and is heated beyond a glass transition temperature. The irradiation is terminated after heating so that the heated region cools down to the temperature of material surrounding the local region. The heating causes a change in volume of the element, which brings about a local elevation in the surface that remains after the local region cools so that a surface deformation in the form of an elevation remains after cooling.

Method for changing the geometry of glass ceramics and coated glass ceramic article produced by such method

A volume-colored monolithic glass ceramic cooking plate is provided. The plate includes a first zone in which the coloration of the glass ceramic differs from that of a second, adjacent zone, so that an absorption coefficient of the first zone is lower than the absorption coefficient of the second, adjacent zone and so that integral light transmission in the visible spectral range is greater in the first zone than the integral light transmission of the second, adjacent zone. The light scattering in the glass ceramic of the first zone differs from light scattering in the glass ceramic of the second zone by not more than 20 percentage points, preferably by not more than 5 percentage points.
