A controllable amplifier amplifies a radiofrequency input signal on the basis of a control signal. A current path is formed between a supply potential connection and a reference potential connection. A transmission arrangement is disclosed in which two different signal paths are provided for two operating modes, in order to couple a baseband signal processing unit to a radio-frequency mixer for transmission of the modulation signal. In a first operating mode, the frequency mixer operates as a step-up frequency mixer, and converts a baseband modulation signal to radio frequency. In a second operating mode, a frequency generator is supplied with a signal that is dependent on the modulation signal and is just amplified in the frequency mixer. The described transmission arrangement supports both the conventional GSM standard and the extended GSM EDGE with higher transmission rates. The transmission arrangement in this case has good noise characteristics with a low power consumption.

Transmission arrangement

The invention specifies a transmission arrangement, particularly for mobile radio, which has a homodyne design and in which a feedback path is routed from the input or from the output of the vector modulator () via a switch () and an A/D converter () back to the digital signal processing () in baseband (). As a result, it is a particularly simple matter to detect offsets and amplitude mismatches and to correct them without difficulty in a digital signal processor (). This allows both significantly improved carrier frequency suppression and significantly improved sideband suppression to be achieved with little complexity. The mobile radio transmitter described is particularly suitable for use in modern mobile radio systems such as GSM EDGE and UMTS.

Transmission arrangement, particularly for mobile radio

A transmitting arrangement, in particular for mobile radio, has a quadrature modulator with an upstream, digital signal processing unit. In order to suppress side bands and the carrier frequency, which may occur as a result of excessive matching tolerances between the components which are used, a feedback path couples the modulator output to the digital signal processing unit. The feedback path provides the envelope of the transmission signal at the input of the digital signal processing unit in order to provide preemphasis in the digital signal processing. The envelope can be provided by an undersampling A/D converter in the feedback path.

Transmitting arrangement for mobile radio

In a transmission arrangement with power regulation, feedback from an output of a modulator to a digital signal processor is effected via a transmission power detector and an analog/digital converter. The digital signal processor processes baseband signals to be transmitted, and is coupled to the modulator in a transmission path. It is therefore possible to influence the baseband signal amplitudes and/or to program the gain of mixers in the modulator, based on the detected transmission power.
