A battery sensor for sensing at least one battery parameter including at least two measuring units. The measuring units each include at least one sensing device for sensing at least one measured value and at least one evaluation circuit for determining at least one battery parameter from the respectively sensed at least one measured value. An evaluation unit is provided, which compares the battery parameters determined by the evaluation circuits, and outputs an error signal in the event that a defined difference between the battery parameters is exceeded.

A method for operating a battery sensor and a battery sensor, including a first and second battery sensor connections, load current connection, current measurement device for recording load current, and first and second measuring resistor elements. The first and second measuring resistor element series connected between the load current connection and the second battery sensor connection, a reference current circuit with at least one reference resistor. The first and second measurement resistors are arranged in series. The reference resistor is electrically disconnected from the first and second measurement resistors in a first measurement state and connected in parallel with the first measurement resistor in a second measurement state. In the first measurement state, identifying the respective first and second measurement resistors voltage drop and determining the ratio of the voltage drops. The present invention relates to a device for measuring a battery current of a battery. The device has a measuring distance, over which the entire battery current to be measured flows during the measurement. A measuring device measures a voltage drop across the measuring distance. On the basis of the measured voltage drop and a resistance of the measuring distance, a current determining device determines the battery current, wherein the measuring distance is formed by at least part of a cable with a temperature-dependent resistor.
