A method may include generating a first user interface for providing, to a client, a first selection of inputs for attributes of a rule scenario for defining a rule. The rule may be applied to modify a data processing functionality of the application. Parameters of the rule may be determined based on the rule scenario and a first input from the first selection of inputs being selected via the first user interface. The parameters of the rule may correspond to data objects affected by the application of the rule. A second user interface for providing, to the client, a second selection of inputs for defining a condition of the rule may be generated. The condition of the rule may evaluate the parameters of the rule. The rule may be generated based on a second input from the second selection of inputs being selected via the second user interface.

Rule scenario framework for defining rules for operating on data objects

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for efficient combinatorial testing of multi-level datatypes and data objects. A multi-level datatype associated with a software library has a plurality of linked levels with corresponding metadata attributes. A sparse set of metadata combinations is generated, providing full coverage of identified tuples of the metadata. Multi-level test datatypes are defined, with metadata attributes following the generated metadata combinations, and used to execute a test suite and validate the software library. A user interface of the software library can be tested and validated directly using the defined test datatypes. Alternatively, functions of the software library can be tested with test objects that are instances of the test datatypes. In variations, the software library can be tested for combinations of data values, or a mix of data and metadata. The software library can be a rules framework providing configuration and implementation of if-then rules for client applications.

Combinatorial testing of software for multi-level data structures

A target application loads target application's user interface (UI) after an initial preoperational task is completed. A task for visualizing a progress status for the target application is delegated to a source application that is used for launching the target application in a new window. The source application creates a shared object and assigns a unique identifier (ID) to the shared object. The unique ID of the shared object is passed to the target application, when the target application is launched from the source application. The shared object is accessed by the target application during the performance of the initial preoperational task. The target application stores progress status of the initial preoperational task in the shared object. The source application monitors the progress status stored in the shared object and presents it continuously on source application's user interface.

The software framework employing the object handler uses that information to create the user interface so as to get user input/action. In response to the entering of the information, a method call of the object handler is made to determine whether the object associated with the object type and identifiers exists, and depending upon that determination, an action or further method call may be initiated and/or requested.

The method includes loading a second tool global variable into the memory and executing the second tool. The method includes responsive to completing execution of the second tool, popping the first tool global variable off the stack and loading the first tool global variable back into the memory.

Methods and systems for maintaining objects using computer self-learning to determine which user interface (UI) screen to navigate to for correcting an inconsistent property of an object are presented. In an embodiment, a data class module is used by the computer system for accessing an object's properties. When the data class is called to store/update an object's properties, the data class determines which UI screen is active, and which of the properties of the data class is being stored/updated. The data class uses the UI screen and property to maintain a screen relationship table between an object's properties and which UI screen writes the object's properties. In an embodiment, the data class module contains a method for performing a consistency check by applying consistency rules to an object.

An expression entered by a user to set a limit variable for a numerical range may be received in a computer system. The expression signifies to the user that the numerical range is unlimited. The limit variable can only be set with a numerical value. The limit variable is set with a first numerical value that is within a predetermined extreme portion of the numerical range. A command to display a limit variable for a numerical range may be received in a computer system. The limit variable is set with a numerical value. If the numerical value is within a predetermined extreme portion of the numerical range, an expression is displayed to a user that signifies to the user that the numerical range is unlimited. If the numerical value is not within the predetermined extreme portion of the numerical range, the numerical value is displayed to the user.

Using limit variables in a computer system

Successively displaying panels in a computer user interface. A method includes displaying a first panel of a plurality of panels. Each of the panels includes different information. The computer user interface has a plurality of navigation controls by which a user can navigate to any of the panels to access its information. A first setting of the navigation controls causes the first panel to be displayed. A user input requesting access to a second panel is received, there being at least two settings of the navigation controls that will cause the second panel to be displayed. The method includes ceasing to display the first panel and displaying the second panel using one of the at least two different settings by which more of the navigation controls remain unchanged from the first setting. Methods may be used in hierarchies and in arrangements that do not form trees.

The method includes defining a data class, the data class to interface between a tool of the computer application and a table in the database, wherein the computer application is configured to automated human resource processes. The method includes registering the data class in a custom table directory. The method includes responsive to a request for data from the tool, invoking a method of the data class to access data stored in the table.

System and method for providing data handling within a human capital management system

Converting a computer user interface panel between different panel types. An automated process is activated that reads field attributes of a first panel in a computer system. A configuration table associated with the first panel is tied to logic that specifies how the panel of the first type interacts with a backend of the computer system. Entries are created in a second configuration table that can be used to display a second panel in the computer system. The second panel comprises at least some of the plurality of fields and belongs to a second type of panels in which a panel of the second type is formed of configuration table entries and is independent of the backend. The automated process converts the field attributes to be compatible with the second type of panels and stores them in the second configuration table for use in displaying the second panel.
