The invention relates to a belt tightener () with a mass body drive for a seat belt of a motor vehicle with a force-limiting device with&#x2014;a belt shaft () mounted rotatably in at least one opening () of a housing () that can be fastened fixedly to the vehicle, it being possible to wind up the seat belt on said shaft, &#x2014;a tightener drive wheel () connected non-rotatably to the belt shaft () and having recesses () distributed at regular intervals over the circumference, &#x2014;a chain forming the mass body drive made of loose mass bodies (), which are guided in a tightener tube () and can be driven by pressure application of the tightener tube (), wherein&#x2014;the belt shaft () can be driven in the winding direction of the seat belt by engagement of the driven mass bodies () in the recesses () of the tightener drive wheel (), wherein&#x2014;the mounting of the belt shaft () in the opening () of the housing () is designed to be flexible in the radial direction.

Belt tightener with a mass body

A piston for a pretensioner device () for a motor vehicle seat belt system of a type having a gas generator () with the piston () guided in a tube () that closes a pressure space () in the tube (). The pressure space () can be pressurized by the gas generator (), driving the piston () to undergo pretensioning operation transmitted to the seat belt system by a force transmission means. The piston has a dome shaped front side adapted to engage a force transmission element and a skirt forming a sealing lip oriented toward the pressure space. At least one slot is formed in the outer surface of the piston extending axially from the sealing lip. The slot can be enlarged by the material erosion caused by the pressure and/or pressure conditions in the pressure space produced by gas from the gas generator.

Pretensioner device for a seat belt

A tensioning device () for a seat belt, in particular in a motor vehicle, having a gas generator () and a piston () guided in a tube () that closes a pressure space () in the tube (), whereas the pressure space () can be pressurized by the gas generator (), as a result of which the piston () can be driven to perform a tensioning operation which can be transmitted to the seat belt by means of the force transmission means. The piston () having a closed or constricted opening (), and the opening () can be enlarged and/or opened by the material erosion caused by the pressure and/or pressure conditions in the pressure space ().

Tensioning device for a safety belt

A pretensioning device () for a safety belt, of a motor vehicle, having a gas generator (), a piston () guided in a tube (), which closes a pressure area () in the tube () that is pressurized by the gas generator () whereupon the piston () is able to move in a pretensioning movement which is able to be conveyed to the safety belt by means of an inertia body () resting on a front face () of the piston (). The piston () forms a pass-through opening () releasable upon exceeding of a predetermined pressure and a recess () is provided in the front face () with an inertia body () resting thereon, so that a flow connection is created from the pass-through opening () to the area () located behind the piston () in the direction of the pretensioning movement (S).

Pretensioning device for a safety belt

A combination of belt retractor and belt pre-tensioner in which the pre-tensioning device is coupled to the belt shaft by means of the vehicle-sensitive or belt strap sensitive locking system of the belt retractor, is characterized in that a lever () entrained by the drive wheel () on its rotation in the pre-tensioning direction is mounted pivotally on the housing and on its pivoting movement effected by the rotation of the drive wheel () its free end () comes into engagement with the control disc () and in so doing, over part of its pivoting movement, drives the control disc () for its relative rotation relatively to the belt shaft and after the lever () has passed through its pivoting path serving to drive the control disc () it is released from the control disc () and the drive wheel ().

Coupling system between pre-tensioning wheel and seat belt retainer spool

The invention relates to a seat belt retractor including a pretensioner especially for use in motor vehicles. The seat belt retractor includes a spool belt which supports belt webbing of the seat belt and rotates in the take-up direction of the safety belt when the pretensioning drive coupled to the belt spool is activated. The belt spool is associated with a drivewheel with recesses on the periphery thereof for accepting mass bodies acting as drive means for pretensioning the seat belt. The mass bodies are stored in a tube, which tangentially flows into the drivewheel, and the mass bodies are accelerated in the tube by means of a gas generator arranged at one end of the tube.

Seat belt retractor and pretensioner combination

In at least one embodiment of the present invention a seat-belt retractor is provided. The seat-belt retractor comprises a locking system that is controlled by means of at least one vehicle-sensitive sensor. The sensor has an alignment mass for autonomous alignment and is configured to pivot on the seat-belt retractor when the angular installation position of the seat-belt retractor is changed and when the seat-belt is extended, the sensor can be fixed in position by a blocking device. The blocking device is friction-controlled by the rotation of the belt shaft in the extension direction. The blocking device includes a rotatably mounted blocking lever which can be displaced into a release position for the sensor by a control lever that is coupled to the belt shaft by a friction coupling when the belt shaft rotates in a retraction direction.

Seat-belt retractor

A self stopping seat belt retractor is provided with a belt shaft for winding a seat belt thereonto and unwinding a wound seat belt therefrom and a housing rotatably supporting the belt shaft and having a locking device that includes a locking means for the belt shaft that can be controlled in a vehicle sensitive and/or belt sensitive manner into engagement with a toothed gearing system on that side of the housing. A tightening device operating on the belt shaft includes a drive wheel, which is, prior to the release of the tightening device, secured in a force-transmitting manner on the housing, is connectable upon release of the tightening device with the belt shaft, whereby the drive wheel of the tightening device is connectable via the locking device with the belt shaft for the transmission of force to the belt shaft.

High performance tightener

The invention relates to a rotation tensioner for a safety belt, especially for motor vehicles. Said ration tensioner comprises a belt retractor whose belt retraction pin is rotated in the belt retracting direction by means of an allocated drive when the rotation tensioner coupled to said pin is actuated. Said drive consists of a drive wheel with an external toothing for the belt retraction pin and of a channel that extends across at least part of the periphery of the drive wheel. Inertia elements are passed through said channel that are accelerated inside said channel and that engage with the external toothing of the drive wheel when the system is triggered. The invention provides a shaped element ( ) that consists of an inertia body ( ) and a leading finder element ( ) that allows a synchronous, shape-congruent insertion of the inertia elements ( ) into the outer toothing ( ) of the drive wheel ( ).

Rotation tensioner with an inertia element

A control mechanism for a mechanical sensor at a safety belt reeling device of a safety restraining mechanism has a housing and a mechanical sensor pivotably connected to the housing. A locking device is connected to the housing and has a locking position for securing the mechanical sensor against pivoting and a release position for releasing the mechanical sensor. The locking device has an initial disengaged position before mounting of the housing to the vehicle and a stand-by position in which the locking device still secures the mechanical sensor. A sensing device for sensing belt removal from the safety belt reeling device is provided and cooperates with the locking device in the stand-by position such that, at a certain degree of belt removal, the sensing device moves the locking device from the locking position into the release position. A control member for controlling the locking device is provided and has an inactive position and an active position. The control member is moved from the inactive position into the active position when the housing is fastened to the vehicle. In the inactive position the locking device is forced by the control member into the initial disengaged position and, when the control member is moved into the active position, the locking device is moved into the stand-by position.
