A post-mix beverage valve provides for automatic, accurate beverage ratioing. A valve body can be assembled, and includes a water flow hard body, syrup body and common nozzle body. The water and syrup flow bodies define flow channels and include one end for connection to water and syrup respectively, and opposite ends for fluid connection to the nozzle body. The water flow channel includes a turbine flow sensor connected to a micro-controller determining the water flow rate. The syrup flow channel includes a flow sensor, two MEMS pressure sensors, monitoring the syrup. The sensors are connected to the micro-controller and positioned about an orifice and senses sense a differential pressure indicative of syrup flow rate solenoid regulates flow of syrup through the syrup body. A stepper motor on the water body controls a rod in the flow channel in conjunction with a V-groove.

Valve for dispensing two liquids at a predetermined ratio

A fluid flow control valve is provided with means for detecting and quantifying valve seat leakage when the valve is in its closed position. Any fluid leaking past the seat flows through an orifice of known, fixed dimensions present downstream of the seat when the valve is in its closed position. Pressure transducers measure a first pressure immediately upstream of the seat, a second pressure between the seat and the orifice, and a third pressure immediately downstream of the orifice. The second and third pressures are used to calculate flow through the orifice, and the calculated flow is used with the first and second pressures to determine the size of a leak path across the seat.

The present invention comprises a valve providing for the dispensing of two liquids at a desired ratio. The valve includes first and second liquid flow body assemblies releasably securable to a nozzle body assembly. Each liquid flow body assembly is securable to a source of liquid and includes flow sensing means and flow regulating means. A control receives inputs from the flow sensing means and regulates the operation of the flow regulating means to provide for the dispensing of the two liquids from the nozzle body assembly at a predetermined ratio.

Ratio controlled post-mix valve

A dispensing valve is shown that controls the flow of a fluid, the valve having a housing containing a cylindrical/tubular passageway between an inlet and outlet of the valve. A rod like closure member is operable to move through the passageway from a first position in which the valve is fully closed, to a second position in which the valve is fully open. The exterior surface of the closure member engages the interior surface wall of the passageway to seal the passageway and the interior surface wall and/or the exterior surface of the closure member have helical/spiral grooves therein. A spiral flow passage is defined through which the fluid can flow on its passage from the inlet to the outlet when the closure member moves away from its first position. Further movement of the closure member towards the second position regulates the flow rate of the fluid through the passageway.

The present invention is a flow rate control valve through which a liquid flows and from which the liquid is dispensed. The flow rate of the liquid is sensed and that information is sent to a microprocessor based control. The control operates a drive of the control valve so as to vary the resultant rate at which the liquid is dispensed therefrom. The drive operates a piston closure member that extends closely within a cylindrical passageway. The passageway has an inlet end and an outlet end and the drive operates the closure member in the passageway to a plurality of positions from a first position at the inlet end and a second position at the outlet end. The wall of the passageway defines at least one groove having a transverse cross-section that increases in area in a downstream direction from the passageway inlet to the passageway outlet or in an upstream direction from the passageway outlet to the passageway inlet, whereby movement of the closure between the first position and the second position varies the flow rate of the liquid through the control valve as a function of the cross-sectional area of the groove.

Flow regulation valve for a beverage dispenser

A sensor arrangement principally for ice bank control using a single probe (9) allowed to resonate at its natural resonant frequency. That resonant frequency is different when ice has adhered to the probe and this is detected to indicate ice growth in the ice bank. A resonator/detector (11) oscillates the probe for short periods of time at regular intervals, which allows ice to form about the probe when not in oscillation.
