A measuring arrangement for determining flow speeds in a flow channel includes a probe tube which is introduced via a first opening into the flow channel. The probe tube is exposed to a flow with a flow speed, the side of the probe tube facing the flow comprising a plurality of openings which are interconnected inside the probe tube such that a total pressure dependent on the flow speed prevails inside the probe tube. The measuring arrangement also comprises a static pressure opening in the flow channel, and a differential pressure sensor that determines the differential pressure between the total pressure inside the probe and the static pressure in the flow channel. The probe tube may be partially surrounded by a shield which is mobile and/or length-adjustable and that, according to its position and/or length along the probe tube, may close one, several or none of the openings.

For calibrating a humidity sensor, the latter is used to measure the relative humidity (U, U) at each of two known gas pressure values (P, P), likewise to be measured if necessary. At the same time, other ambient conditions are kept constant. A correction value for correction of the measured values of the humidity sensor to be subtracted from the latter is then obtained from the formula: k=((P/P)*UU)/(P/P). The humidity sensor is thus capable of calibration without measurement of the actual humidity value.

A measuring device for measuring the moisture in gases comprises the following features: a moisture sensor and an evaluation unit connected thereto to provide a measured quantity representing a relative moisture in a gas, and a heating device which is thermally coupled to the moisture sensor. Said heating device is adapted to keep the moisture sensor at an operating temperature that is higher than the ambient temperature of the moisture sensor by an at least approximately constant difference in temperature.

The flow velocity of the medium is determined with the aid of a temperature-dependent resistor. The measurement probe is located in a partially open measurement chamber. The measurement chamber has an inlet port and an outlet port of different sizes. Only if the flow enters through the smaller inlet port and exits through the larger outlet port, is the actual flow velocity measured. When the flow enters through the outlet port, the measured value is less by about 30%. From this difference the direction of flow can be clearly determined.

An electical current flow sensor, where a spherical surface thereof is subjected to an in-flowing fluid in order to the speed of the fluid. The spherical surface is formed by a body made of a good thermally conductive material. An electrical resistor is disposed in a cavity in the interior of the body of good thermally conductive material. The electrical resistor is placed in a good heat exchange with the wall of the cavity. The electrical resistor is adjusted to a preset temperature by electrical current feed, whereby increased fed-in electrical current is measured and serves as a measure for the current flow speed.
