Transport guard device for a belt retractor

A trip device for a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises a vehicle responsive inertial mass (12) able to be moved in translation in a housing (10) against a return spring (14) between a neutral position and a trip position. An activating pin (22) is provided for activation of an impact fuse (24). To reduce the response time and to prevent an effect of the resistance to actuation of a device activated by the trip device, on the trip behavior of the trip device, the activating pin (22) is acted upon by a spring and is held in a standby position by a catch (26), a control body (16) able to be shifted in translation in the housing (10) is biased by a spring (18) into a neutral position and is functionally arranged between the inertial mass (12) and the catch means (26), and the control body (16) is able to be struck by the inertial mass (12) and on being impinged with a predetermined amount of strike energy is able to be moved out of the neutral position into a release position, in which it releases the catch (26) for release of the activating pin (22).

Trip device for a vehicle occupant restraint system

The invention relates to an igniter mechanism for a pyrotechnical gas generator of a vehicle occupant restraining system in which either an impact member or the gas generator for actuating the belt tensioning action is pretensioned by at least one spring so that the spring loads the impact member in a first direction against a stop. In addition the spring counteracts movement of the impact member in a second direction as a result of the forces of inertia acting on acceleration of the vehicle by means of a force which grows until a center position is reached. Force conversion means are provided to convert a torque generated by said spring into an axial force applied to said impact member.

Igniter mechanism for a pyrotechnical gas generator

The invention relates to a safety belt restraining system for vehicles comprising a belt retractor 10 and a webbing clamping means 12 arranged downstream of the retractor 10 and having two clamping wedges 46, 48 which are arranged opposite each other in a housing on either side of the webbing 22. The belt retractor 10 blockable in vehicle-sensitive and/or webbing-sensitive manner and the webbing clamping means 12 are connected together by connecting means 60, 62. With plastic deformation they yield and permit a limited moving of the webbing clamping means 12 away from the belt retractor 10 when the force exerted on the webbing 22 exceeds a predetermined value.

Safety belt restraining system for vehicles

This invention relates to a safety belt system for vehicles comprising a belt retractor 10 and a webbing clamping mechanisms 12 arranged downstream of the retractor 10 and having two clamping wedges 46 and 48 which are arranged opposite each other in a housing on either side of the webbing. When the slide faces 54, 56 bear on the support surfaces 42, 44 the clamping faces 50, 52 of the clamping wedges 46, 48 form an angle of about one degree with each other which is open in the direction G of the belt withdrawal. Holding devices 402, 404; 410, 414 are provided for holding said clamping wedges 46, 48 in said rest position with their slide faces 54, 56 inclined to said support surfaces 42, 44 and their clamping faces parallel to the webbing. The holding devices become ineffective under load so that the slide faces 54, 56 make a surface contact with said support surfaces 42, 44 and the clamping faces 50, 52 form an angle of about one degree with each other which is open in the direction (G) of belt withdrawal.
