A handling robot includes an articulated arm movable in three directions, which carries a gripper at its free end for gripping and holding pneumatic tires. The pneumatic tire is held on its running surface by the gripper, taken from a provision position and moved to an optional wetting station for wetting the pneumatic tire with lubricant. The wetted pneumatic tire is then moved to an assembly station with a clamping device for releasably holding a wheel rim, which comprises a handling device with an assembly head equipped with assembly tools that can be guided along between the tire bead and the wheel rim flange. Here, the pneumatic tire is mounted on the wheel rim by a coordinated movement of the handling robot and the assembly head.

In a device () for clamping a rim () of a vehicle wheel, at least four clamping elements () are provided which can be moved with respect to the rim () and comprise clamping arms () and support elements () having support surfaces (). A rim flange of the rim () can be placed on the support surfaces. The clamping arms () are rotatably mounted, about their longitudinal axis, in the clamping elements (), and have clamping fingers () at the end that protrude beyond the support surfaces (), which fingers have clamping surfaces which can be brought into clamping contact with the placeable rim flange.

In order to determine the machining axis of a rotatable workpiece blank, a reference workpiece, which has bearing surfaces concentric to its imbalance reference axis, and subsequently a workpiece blank are received in a measurement device, and as yet unmachined surface regions of the reference workpiece and of the workpiece blank are measured by a sensor device, and the measured position data are stored by a computer as a reference partial surface and a blank partial surface in a data storage device. The computer calculates deviations between the blank partial surface and the reference partial surface and, from these, an imbalance effect which is expressed by the position of the main axis of inertia of a given workpiece. The machining axis is calculated by adding an offset to the position of the main axis of inertia, which offset has been empirically determined with the aid of the actual imbalances of previously produced workpieces measured relative to the machining axis.

A drive shaft balancing machine for dynamic balancing of drive shafts includes two pedestals. Each pedestal includes a spring-mounted upper part receiving a rotary spindle, a support receiving an end of a drive shaft to be balanced and a first vibration sensor detecting upper part vibrations resulting from an unbalance of the drive shaft and further involved forces in at least a first degree of freedom of motion normal to the spindle axis. On the upper part of at least one pedestal a second vibration sensor is mounted which detects the vibrations of the upper part in at least a second degree of freedom of motion. An evaluating circuit analyzes and links the vibration signals of the first and the second vibration sensors so that pitch vibration excitations of the upper part not caused by the unbalance of the drive shaft do not enter the drive shaft unbalance value computed.

To correct an unbalance of rotors, a method and a device are proposed by means of which a corrective weight () is adapted to be welded to a rotor () by means of an electric welding device (). The device comprises a robot () with a jointed arm () mounting the electric welding device (). Arranged within reach of the jointed arm () is an unbalance measuring station () for measuring the amount of unbalance of the rotor () with an electronic computer which computes a corrective weight () to be attached to the rotor () for unbalance correction and transmits control data to a control device () of the robot (). Under robot control, the welding device () picks the computed corrective weight () from a magazine () arranged within reach of the jointed arm () and welds it to the rotor () in the unbalance measuring station (). During the welding operation the rotor () takes support on a first supporting device () and the welding device () on a second supporting device ().

In a tire inflating device having a machine frame (), a tire filling bell () arranged on the machine frame () and a supporting and sealing device () for sealing a filling chamber. The tire filling bell () is comprised of a filling plate () and a separate filling ring (). A device for changing the rotational angle position of a pneumatic tire relative to a rim, on which the pneumatic tire is fitted to the rim, includes a manipulating device with a gripper adapted to be rotated by a positionable rotary drive mechanism and having radially adjustable gripper fingers with oppositely facing lift-off devices. Via the gripper it is possible to load a wheel into a clamping fixture, and following unseating of the tire beads from the clamped rim the pneumatic tire can be rotated relative to the rim through a computed angular difference.

For compensating unbalance of vehicle wheels, adhesive weight elements () are positioned and pressed onto a determined compensation surface () on a wheel () using a balancing head () and a program-controlled handling device (). The adhesive weight elements () in the form of an endless weight strand () are fed by a feed device () arranged on the balancing head () to a following roll-on roller () that presses the beginning of the endless weight strand () onto the beginning of the compensation surface () and thereafter rolls along thereon. Method and device for compensating unbalances of vehicle wheels

A filling bell can be used to fill a tubeless tire arranged on a wheel rim with a pressurized gas. The filling bell includes an annular sealing face which can be pressed onto a side wall of the tire. The filling bell also includes a central opening, into which the wheel rim may penetrate. The sealing face is formed by an annular flange which surrounds the opening and includes a plurality of wedge-shaped segments. The width of the wedge-shaped segments increases away from the opening. The wedge-shaped segments are displaceable relative to one another and substantially radially relative to the opening.
