An apparatus for injecting a molten material including an injector, a rail, a bell crank, and a frame supporting the injector via the rail for guiding the linear translation of the injector along the frame. The apparatus includes a first guide and a second guide slideably coupled to the rail, the second guide attached to the injector and spaced from the first guide along the rail, and a bell crank coupled to the first guide and second guide to provide a load-balancing mechanism.

An apparatus for aligning an outlet of an injection unit with an inlet of a mold mounted between platens of a molding machine includes a positioning assembly interconnecting the injection unit to the molding machine. The positioning assembly includes a first translation assembly configured to engender a first movement of the injection unit outlet along a translation plane, and a second translation assembly configured to engender a second movement of the injection unit outlet along the translation plane. The positioning assembly further includes a brake assembly extending between the first translation assembly and the second translation assembly. The brake assembly is configured to selectively create a compressive force between the first and second translation assemblies to maintain the position of the injection unit outlet.

A liquid injection molding apparatus is provided. The liquid injection molding apparatus comprises a mold assembly; a clamping unit; an injector including a barrel; a feed screw concentrically located in the barrel; and a motor having a drive shaft removably coupled to the feed screw via a bayonet connector.

Liquid injection molding apparatus

The present invention is a casting machine for casting parts in a mold out of a metal using a metal feedstock. The machine feeds solid metal feedstock into a processing cylinder formed in a thermally conductive block and a heater elevates the temperature of the feedstock as it passes along the said processing cylinder first and second ends, the first end of the processing cylinder being configured to receive. The feedstock becomes more liquid and is transferred to an injector cylinder formed in the thermally conductive block adjacent the processing cylinder. The injector cylinder has a shooting pot coupled to the second end of the processing cylinder by a passage configured to permit feedstock to pass from the processing cylinder into the shooting pot from where is it injected into a mold.

Device for casting

An injection unit positioning apparatus is disclosed that includes a positioning assembly interconnecting the injection unit to the molding machine. The positioning assembly includes an angular positioning assembly that permits rotation of the injection unit through a sweep plane that extends from an axis that is perpendicular to an inlet surface of a mold. The positioning assembly also includes a linear positioning assembly that permits linear translation of the injection unit on the sweep plane, and the height of the outlet relative to the inlet surface remains substantially constant during rotation and translation of the positioning assembly.

Described is a device for conditioning a comminuted light alloy feedstock to heat and remove impurities from the feedstock. The conditioner device includes a reaction chamber having a substrate feed port for feeding the comminuted light alloy feedstock into the reaction chamber and a discharge port for allowing the conditioned feedstock to exit the reaction chamber. A scrubber gas baffle is positioned at one end of the reaction chamber and coupled to a scrubber gas injector which is configured to inject a scrubber gas through the scrubber gas baffle at a volume and rate of flow sufficient to fluidize the feedstock in the reaction chamber. A scrubber gas heater is also provided for heating the scrubber gas to a temperature sufficient to condition the feedstock as desired.

Molding-system locking mechanism

Disclosed is a molding-system platen actuator, including: (a) a platen-stroke actuator including: an electrical actuator, and a guide bushing being connected with the electrical actuator; and (b) a mold-break actuator being in-line with the platen-stroke actuator, the mold-break actuator including: a hydraulic actuator having: a piston being strokable along an in-line housing, and air pressure being generatable between the piston and the guide bushing, and the air pressure being useable to push the piston backwardly.

Disclosed is a drive unit operable to translate and rotate a shaft, the drive unit including: (i) a hollow electric motor having a rotor, (ii) a fluid cylinder, (iii) means for connecting the shaft to the rotor of the hollow electric motor, (iv) means permitting the shaft to move lengthwise coupled with the fluid cylinder, and (iv) means connecting the fluid cylinder to the shaft, whereby the shaft may be rotated by the hollow electric motor and moved lengthwise by the fluid cylinder, and wherein the fluid cylinder has an outer wall coupled with the rotor of the hollow electric motor.

Drive assembly for rotating and translating a shaft

In metallic material injection molding machines, the connection between the injection nozzle and the sprue bushing has tended to leak metallic material. To overcome this problem, the nozzle has been modified to have a projecting portion or spigot that extends into a mating portion of the sprue bushing to form a seal between the respective portion walls. The nozzle and sprue bushing can move axially with respect to one another without loss of sealing whereas with the prior designs any separation between confronting annular surfaces on the sprue bushing and the nozzle would result in a loss of sealing and leakage.

A barrel assembly and carriage assembly preferably having first complimentary couplers and second complimentary couplers. The first couplers interlock to secure the barrel assembly between the ends of the barrel assembly to a carriage assembly. The second couplers retain an end of the barrel assembly in the carriage assembly preventing rotation of the barrel assembly during operation.

Injection unit

A barrel assembly preferably having a first barrel coupler and a second barrel coupler. The first barrel coupler secures the barrel to a carriage. The second barrel coupler retains an end of the barrel in the carriage preventing rotation of the barrel during operation. The barrel section between the first barrel coupler and an end of the barrel is isolated from axial carriage force in operation.
