Various embodiments of a four-step intra-LayBack handover protocol within a given gateway in an SDN-LayBack architecture are disclosed. The intra-LayBack handover reduces the signaling load by 60% in comparison with conventional LTE handover within a given serving gateway.

Systems and methods for a layered SDN-based backhaul architecture for small cells

A new access networking framework is provided for supporting small cell deployments based on the sharing of network resources. A smart gateway framework flexibly accommodates eNB connections and dynamically assigns uplink transmission resources to the eNBs. Novel techniques are also introduced for sharing the small cell infrastructures among multiple operators through virtualization and SDN based reconfiguration.

Systems and methods for a smart gateway SDN-based backhaul architecture for small cells

A media network platform is disclosed. The media network platform utilizes a computing device comprising at least one memory for storing instructions that are executed by at least one processor. Media data is retrieved from at least one data source. A plurality of media segments are created from the media data with each of the media segments being independently playable. A plurality of unique identifiers is assigned to each of the respective media segments. A request is received to transmit a media segment of the plurality of media segments for playback with the request including information about a unique identifier assigned to the media segment. The media segment is transmitted using the unique identifier. The media segment comprises a portion of a video derived from the media data and comprises any specific time interval of the video.

Systems and methods for name-based segmented media acquisition and distribution framework on a network

A multi-nodal wireless communication system comprises a system controller configured to create a link layer communication network. The system controller comprises a set of hardware finite state machines configured to receive a frame from a device associated with the link layer communication network as a request for data transmission, identify that the frame includes a unique ID value, transmit the unique ID value to an associated hardware queue, the hardware queue configured to construct at least one frame header associated with a base station to facilitate data transmission between the base station and the first device or between the first device and the network using one frame header, and process the frame in the link layer communication network by facilitating communication between the first device and the base station using the at least one frame header or between the first device and the network using one frame header.

Multi-nodal wireless communication systems and methods

The present invention provides optical network methods and systems. In one example, a method for handling packets in a node coupled to a ring and star subnetwork may include (a) receiving in the given node a data packet on the ring subnetwork, (b) detecting a failure on the ring subnetwork, (c) determining a new transmission path to the destination node, and (d) sending the data packet along the new transmission path. In another example, an EPON may include (a) a root coupled to a ring and star subnetwork, (b) ONUs coupled to the root via a splitter/combiner and a first fiber link, (c) a second fiber link coupled to a subset of ONUs and the star subnetwork, and (d) a WDM coupler on the first fiber link that separates a first waveband of wavelengths from a second waveband of wavelengths and guides the first waveband to the star.
