The present application provides a method of evaluating valve creep damage in a turbine by a data acquisition system. The method may include the steps of receiving a number of operating parameters from a number of sensors including steam temperatures and steam pressures about the valve over time, generating a design material model for the valve, determining an indicator for consumed creep lifetime based on the steam temperature and steam pressures about the valve over time as compared to the design material model, and altering one or more of the operating parameters and/or initiating repair procedures based upon the consumed creep lifetime indicator.

A method of determining a remaining life in a component and a rotatable machine system are provided. A high temperature actuated steam valve is disclosed that has a connector extending between the casing of the valve and its actuator. The connector can include two spacers made of materials each with a different hot strength wherein the first spacer, fixed adjacent the casing, has a higher hot strength that the second spacer, which is fixed adjacent to the actuator.

A steam turbine is provided having a relief groove which is arranged in the region of the equalizing piston and extends in the circumferential direction of the rotor. The relief groove, with regard to an inlet passage, is arranged in the axial upstream direction so that it is arranged on the rotor outside a region in which the steam flow enters the bladed flow path via the inlet passage. The relief groove, with regard to the first blade row, is arranged in a region in which the greatest thermal stresses can arise in the rotor. As an option, the relief groove has a cover for reducing vortex flows, and also devices for reducing heating of the groove or devices for active cooling. The steam turbine allows an increased number of risk-free running up and running down operations of the steam turbine with minimum detriment to the turbine performance.

A rotor for a steam turbine for working steam and including at least two rotor parts welded to one another using a circumferential, annular weld zone, which is closed in the circumferential direction. A cooling channel system is formed in the rotor and has at least one inlet flow channel, at least one outlet flow channel and at least one cooling channel. In order to simplify the integration of the cooling channel system in the rotor, the weld zone surrounds a cavity which forms a component of the cooling channel system and through which cooling steam flows.
