A compression plate for tomosynthesis images using an X-ray apparatus designed to take the tomosynthesis images is provided. The compression plate includes an upper area. The width of the upper area is dimensioned such that, for all X-ray images taken during tomosynthesis of a female breast compressed by the compression plate, X-rays substantially penetrate the compression plate. The compression plate also includes a lower area. An average width of the lower area is smaller than an average width of the upper area. The lower area includes a surface of smaller width than the width of the upper area for the compression of the female breast.

The present embodiments relate to an add-on unit for an object table of a mammography device for positioning a breast of a patient during an X-ray exposure. The add-on unit permits a symmetric collimation during MLO exposures. Use of the add-on unit is less resource-intensive than mammography devices with movable compression plates. Easier placement of an inner arm of the patient on the object table is also possible.

A laser device for projecting a position mark in the field of vision onto an object to be examined using a mammography unit is described, where the laser device can be adjusted in position together with a vertically adjustable compression plate of the mammography unit. The laser device may be arranged on the compression plate or on the compression plate support thereof. In the latter configuration, the laser device may remain attached to the mammography unit. The apparatus has application to biopsies.

A mammography unit having a mounting arm, on which a mounting for at least two X-ray receivers is rotatably disposed in such a way that one X-ray receiver at a time is positioned in an examination position inside an intended X-radiation field, while other X-ray receivers each remain in a reserve position outside the X-radiation field, is provided. The at least one reserve position is disposed on a side located in the X-radiation direction, relative to the mounting arm. In the case of two X-ray receivers, the X-ray receivers each form a lateral angle of between 45&#xb0; and 90&#xb0; with the axis of rotation of the mounting. By using a releasable connection of the mounting to the mammography unit, high modularity is provided.

The examination apparatus includes at least one planar lighting device emitting homogeneous light via its light radiating surface. The lighting device includes at least one light source by which at least part of the examination area and/or of the area peripheral to the examination area can be illuminated.

To permit a compact and structurally simple design of a mammography appliance, an irradiation unit is secured on a C-arm, which lies in a swivel plane that is perpendicular to a horizontal axis. In this way, only slight mechanical leverages act on the support arm. At the same time, the C-arm design creates a free space, which is used in particular also for the arrangement of a display and/or control panel and for the arrangement of a biopsy unit.

An operating device with an operating piece, which may be positioned near the floor, includes at least one operating element for controlling a medical instrument. Operation of the medical instrument is possible by actuation of the at least one operating element by foot, such that the operator has hands free to use for further manipulation. A flexible positioning of the operating piece in a defined movement range is possible by arrangement of the operating device such as to be pivotable and/or extendable/retractable relative to the medical instrument which is good for operational manipulation. The operational device may be used during operation of a mammography device.

User control device for controlling a medical system

A filter arrangement for filtering x-rays particularly in a mammography apparatus, has a number of mountings, the mountings being provided for accommodation of one x-ray filter each. Each x-ray filter has a holding frame with a filter foil fastened therein, so the filter foil is mounted and demounted simply at the filter arrangement with the holding frame.

At least one radiation element is integrated into the mammography unit. The at least one radiation element is operable to heat the object table by exposure to radiation.

A medical imaging equipment is described, including a radiation source for emitting measuring radiation, a receiver for receiving the measuring radiation, and a measuring region in which an object to be measured is placed, and which is situated in the beam path of the measuring radiation The receiver comprises a support which can be pivoted about a rotational axis and is adapted to mount at least two receiving devices. The receiving surfaces may be disposed alternately into a measuring position. A surface of the receiving device is parallel to the rotational axis of the support, and the rotational axis of the support is substantially perpendicular to the beam path of the measuring radiation.

An X-ray apparatus and a mammographic X-ray apparatus are provided. The X-ray apparatus includes an X-ray beam generated by an X-ray source and a diaphragm. At least one LED is disposed as an indicator between the X-ray source and the diaphragm. The illuminating beam of the LED is directed in an undeflected fashion onto the X-ray field. The LED may be pivotable (swivable) out of the X-ray beam. The LED is mounted on a filter array that is mounted between the X-ray source and the diaphragm.
