A locking head assembly () for a telescoping boom () of a crane () includes a locking head () having a base (), an operating plate () operably coupled to the base, one or more cylinder pins () and/or one or more section lock arms () movable in response to movement of the operating plate relative to the base. An actuator () is operably coupled to the operating plate and configured to move the operating plate relative to the base. The actuator includes a motor () and a drive arm (). A ruggedized packaging assembly for a linearly extending crane component measurement device includes an outer sleeve, an inner member slidably disposed in the outer sleeve, a target coupled to at least one of the outer sleeve and the inner sleeve, and a non-contact measurement instrument. Either the outer sleeve or the inner member is coupled to a linearly extending component, and the other part is coupled to a component from which a distance is being measured.

A power generator is associated with a crane boom at or near the tip of the boom. The generator responds to movement of the lifting cable to initiate the transmission of a signal to a crane controller. The signal serves as a start-up or a wake-up signal to the crane controller which may then immediately analyze operation of, for example, an anti-two block device associated with the boom tip. The crane controller may then control the operation of the crane in accordance with signals received from the anti-two block device or immediately identify malfunctions of the anti-two block device and control the crane operations accordingly.

A control console includes a body supporting a plurality of controls, a base, and first and second legs each having a first end pivotably connected to the body and a second end pivotably connected to the base. The legs are shiftable between a first position projecting over a first end of the base, a second position projecting over a second end of the base and a third position between the first and second positions. At least one spring is provided to bias the legs toward the third position, and a motor may included for shifting the legs.
