A vehicle body, in particular for passenger cars, with an opening, which extends over the entire width of the body between the windshield and the rear edge of the engine hood and is divided into a water-inlet region with a water channel arranged underneath it for the water running off the windshield, and into an air-inlet region for an air-supply device for the passenger cell. To prevent alcohol fumes from the washing water sprayed onto the windshield from being drawn in via the air-inlet region, the latter is formed by the inlet of an air-water channel, which is closed on all sides, has a connection for the air-supply device and is secured in the engine compartment at such a distance from the windshield that it bounds a wiper recess, which lies toward the windshield and the recess opening of which constitutes the water-inlet region and the recess bottom of which forms the water channel. Washer jets are arranged on the upper edge of the channel wall, bounding the wiper recess, of the air-water channel.

Vehicle body

A spraying device for headlamp-cleaning systems for motor vehicles having an essentially cylindrical nozzle carrier which comprises two sections, with the vehicle-external nozzle carrier section being formed from a number of annular segments connected to one another in a hinge-like manner. In a rest position, the nozzle carrier is retracted in the vehicle body. When moved into the operating setting outside the vehicle, the front nozzle carrier section comprising the annular segments curves in an arc shape, such that a cleaning nozzle fitted to the head end of the nozzle carrier comes to be situated in an area just in front of the headlamp diffusing screen.

Spraying device for motor vehicle headlamp-cleaning systems

A water box is provided for collecting run-off water which flows between a motor vehicle windscreen and an engine bonnet into a body space. A component has a water guide channel which carries away water along the windscreen lower edge, a forward set water box, under which is located a filter element, connecting with at least the central section of the component. The water box has an attachment section to the component with the water guide channel and may be moved in this attachment section from its connected position on the component so that it frees a path for exchanging the filter element.

A drive mechanism for a motor vehicle windshield wiper device has a crank which is driven in a rotating manner and produces a pivoting movement of a windshield wiper via a drive rod. If the movement of the windshield wiper is obstructed by a snow wedge building up in the wiper socket, the drive mechanism provides for an obstruction evading movement of the drive rod in such a way that the crank can fully rotate unimpeded. In order to obtain a low loading of the drive rod and its joints in the event of obstruction of the windshield wiper and to obtain a uniform wiping zone in normal wiping operation, the novel drive mechanism for the drive rod is firmly coupled to the crank and a lost motion drive means is arranged on the wiper shaft.

An air flow rate meter, in particular for measuring the mass of air aspirated by an internal combustion engine, has a main flow conduit with a venturi-like flow portion and a bypass conduit, which discharges with an inlet and outlet opening above and below the venturi-like flow portion, respectively. A temperature-dependent measuring resistor is disposed in the bypass conduit. To avoid impairment of the measured value signal by an increase in the noise component caused by turbulence of the air upstream of the venturi-like flow portion, which unavoidably occurs upon deflection of the air flow direction, the inlet opening of the bypass conduit is shifted in the flow direction upstream of the deflection of the air flow, into a region of quasi-laminar flow with a constant pressure profile.

Air flow rate meter

A stroke-controlled windshield wiper unit having a gear casing, screw-connected rotationally solidly to a drive unit which can be mounted on the vehicle independently of the drive shaft by a drive shaft rotationally solidly connected to a stroke mechanism of the wiper. The drive shaft is designed as a hollow shaft which accepts a threaded bolt passing through it. The head of the threaded bolt is located at the gear casing end to allow assembly to previously installed windshield.

Stroke-controlled windshield wiper unit for motor vehicles

A wiping device for wiping cover plates of the headlights of motor vehicles includes a wiping arm carrying a wiper blade and swingable over the cover plate being wiped, and a drive shaft which is releasably connected to the wiping arm by means of an adapter. The wiping arm is comprised of two halves hinged to each other by a hinge the axis of which extends in a plane parallel to the cover plate being wiped. A spring is arranged between two hingeable halves of the wiping arm. The wiping device can be completely moved out from the path of light beams emitted by the headlight.

Wiping device for wiping cover plates of headlights of motor vehicles

A force responsive, variable length push rod for connecting the motor and windshield blade of a windshield wiper unit. The variable response push rod includes a pair of members connected at one end to the motor and windshield blades respectfully and overlapped at the other end. Each member includes a plurality of lobes extending to the area between the opposed members and an elastomer adheres to the lobes and fills space between the plurality of lobes to form push rod. Interdigitized lobes and elastomer define the force characteristics of the push rod.

Windshield wiper arrangement

A wiper arm in motor vehicle windshield wiper installations having, attached on a wiper shaft to be driven, a bearing part, the contact force of which directed towards an associated windshield in an operational position is generated by the action of a traction spring, while the wiper arm is positionable out of the operational position into a raised position in which it is anchored wherein an additional bracing member is arranged between an extension of the bearing part and the wiper arm for secure anchorage, particularly in the case of a raised position oriented at an acute angle to the operational position of the wiper arm.

A windshield wiper for motor cars with a wiper arm which terminates at its free end in a U-shaped hook, while a connecting piece articulated to a wiper blade and preferably consisting of plastics is slidable and anchorable between the members of the U. In order to ensure a play-free connection even in the longitudinal direction of the wiper arm and/or wiper blade, a fastening yoke, which is articulated to the connecting piece at a pivot axis thereof, in its closed position, engages externally and clamps around the U-shaped hook and tensions the connecting piece towards the wiper arm.

Windshield wiper

A windshield wiper unit with a wiper arm of telescopic construction which has a housing driven to and fro round an axis of rotation by a driving motor and a slide movable in relation to the housing, this slide being displaceable by a crank assembly is so designed that the various bearings are subjected to little load and so that compact construction is possible. This is achieved by having the connecting rod belonging to the crank assembly above or below the slide and linked to the slide between the two bearings for it and by having the distance between the two bearings at least as great as the stroke of the slide.

Windshield wiper unit

A windshield wiper unit has a slide which is supported so as to be movable in a longitudinal direction in a housing which is driven to and fro, and a wiper arm which is fastened with a fastening part to an end section of the slide. A low overall height is achieved by the fastening part having a recess with which it is placed on the end section of the slide in the longitudinal direction of the slide and by the end section being jammed in the recess.

A thermometer is provided which is insertable between two lamella of a heat exchanger. The thermometer exhibits a double channeled insulated pipe or tube for receiving the uninsulated leads which are connected to a temperature sensitive resistance at a supporting connection with a cap surrounding a heat conducting mass. The other end of the double channeled tube is inserted into a connector device which in turn leads to a relieved connecting cable.

Rod shaped thermometer and method of making same

A low overall height is provided in a wiper-arm assembly with a wiper arm which has a fastening part, a link part which is swivelably linked to the fastening part and two side walls and a back connecting the two side walls, and a contact pressure spring which is accommodated in the link part and acts on the link part and the fastening part, and also with a wiper blade linked to the wiper arm, which blade lies at least partly in line with the link part. The low height is achieved by making the clearance between the contact pressure spring and the one side wall of the link part greater than the width of the wiper blade in the area of the link part and by the wiper blade being swivelable into the link part alongside the contact pressure spring.

Windshield wiper-arm assembly

A windshield for motor vehicles equipped with a windshield wiper system, which, for the improvement of the wiped field, includes in its lower area strip-shaped profile members whose side facing the bottom edge of the windshield form together with the windshield surface a water-collecting channel open in the downward direction. In order to prevent the rising of water from non-wiped areas in the lower part of the windshield onto wiped higher areas, provision is made according to the invention that the upper edge area of each profile member extends along the lower edge area of the associated wiper field.
