Techniques for wireless power transfer are disclosed. An example of an apparatus for receiving power in a wireless power transfer system includes a power receiving element, a tuning and current doubler circuit operably coupled to the power receiving element, a power flow controller circuit operably coupled to the tuning and current doubler circuit, and a controller operable coupled to the power receiving element and the power flow controller circuit and configured to detect a signal in the power receiving element and to synchronize the power flow controller circuit based on the signal.

Systems and methods are described for thermal feedback for power transfer optimization. Aspects include a wireless power-transfer system including a base power-transfer apparatus, a power supply unit, at least one temperature sensor, and a system controller. The base power-transfer apparatus includes a coil configured to generate a magnetic field based on an electric current. The power supply unit includes switching and power electronics configured to drive the electric current in the coil. The temperature sensor(s) are configured to measure a temperature of the base power-transfer apparatus or the power supply unit. The system controller is coupled to the base power-transfer apparatus, the power supply unit, and the temperature sensor(s) and is configured to control operation of at least one of the base power-transfer apparatus or the power supply unit based on the measured temperature to shift losses and dissipate heat in the base power-transfer apparatus or the power supply unit.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure are generally directed to apparatus for attenuating unwanted frequencies using a feed line with integrated filtering. In certain aspects, a feed line for filtering unwanted frequencies in a wireless power transfer system is provided, the feed line including a first end, wherein the first end is configured to connect to a power source that generates a driving signal having a driving signal frequency, and a second end, wherein the second end is configured to connect to a wireless power transfer element configured to wirelessly transmit power. The feed line further includes a conductor core, wherein the conductor core is configured to transfer the driving signal from the power source to the wireless transfer element. The feed line further includes an integrated filter configured to attenuate at least one frequency generated by the wireless power transfer system.

An apparatus for wirelessly transferring charging power is provided. The apparatus comprises a wireless power coupler. The apparatus comprises driver circuit. The apparatus comprises a control unit configured to instruct a driver circuit to drive the wireless power coupler with a first voltage waveform when transferring wireless charging power less than a first amount. The first voltage waveform includes a positive portion having a first duration and a negative portion having the first. The control unit is further configured to selectively instruct the driver circuit to drive the wireless power coupler with a second voltage waveform when transferring wireless charging power greater than the first amount, the second voltage waveform including a positive portion having a second duration and a negative portion having a third duration that is not equal to the second duration.

Systems, methods, and apparatus implementing hybrid symmetric and asymmetric control for soft switching in wireless power transfer applications

One aspect of the disclosure provides an apparatus for conveying wireless power. The apparatus comprises a circuit board disposed along one or more planar coils and a plurality of feeds. The circuit board is divided into a first area separate from a second area. The first area has a plurality of first voltage components and the second area has a plurality of second voltage components. The first voltage components operates at a lower voltage than the second voltage components. The plurality of feeds are coupled to the one or more planar coils and the circuit board. The plurality of feeds pass through the circuit board within the second area along a side of the circuit board and couple to one or more of the second voltage components.

System and method for reducing interference in a wireless power transfer system

Systems, methods, and apparatus are disclosed for wirelessly charging an electric vehicle. In one aspect, a method for transferring power via a magnetic field in a wireless power transfer system is provided. The method includes outputting an alternating electric current to a wireless power transmitter, generating, at the wireless power transmitter, the magnetic field in response to being driven with the alternating electrical current, receiving a value indicative of an electrical characteristic of the wireless power transmitter, and adjusting an operating characteristic of the wireless power transmitter to trigger a change in an electrical current in the receiver, the amount of adjustment selected to cause adjustment of an amount of reactive power in the wireless power transfer system based on changes in the receiver that automatically occur to maintain the output power substantially constant in response to the change in the electrical current in the receiver.

Devices, systems, and methods using reactive power injection for active tuning electric vehicle charging systems

Devices, systems, and methods for monitoring overcurrent and zero voltage are disclosed. These devices, systems, and methods monitor an input/output pin of an electronic device to determine a period of time when monitoring for an overcurrent of the input/output pin of the electronic device is not performed and compare a first input voltage to a first reference voltage during the period of time when monitoring for the overcurrent of the input/output pin of the electronic device is not performed so as to determine when a diode is conducting current, the diode being located across a switch being monitored for a zero voltage state, wherein the diode conducting current indicates that the switch is at the zero voltage state.
