A kitchen appliance includes a housing that defines a cavity. The housing has a housing rim defining an opening to the cavity. A heating or cooling element is disposed within the housing to heat or cool the cavity. A container has a generally hollow interior and a container rim. A lid is sized and shaped to at least partially cover the opening of the container when placed on the container. The lid has an exterior surface and an opposing interior surface. At least one latching mechanism or handle is operable to seal the contents of the appliance within the appliance.

Kitchen appliance and method of using same

A kitchen appliance includes a housing defining a cavity. A heating or cooling element is disposed within the housing. A container is sized and shaped to fit within the cavity. A lid is sized and shaped to at least partially cover an opening of the container. A handle is pivotally mounted to an exterior surface of the side wall of the housing. A first end of the handle is pivotally mounted to the side wall of the housing at a first location. An opposing second end of the handle is pivotally mounted to side wall of the housing at a second location diametrically opposed to the first location. The handle is pivotable between an engaged position which at least a portion of the handle retains the lid in sealing engagement with the container rim and disengage position in which the portion of the handle is spaced-apart from the lid.

An under-the-cabinet household opening appliance including an electric can opener, a jar opener mounted on the bottom wall of the can opener housing, and a sheath for a scissors on the back of the housing. A scissors holder in the sheath releasably retains a scissors within the sheath. A bottle opener and a hone are also mounted on the appliance housing.

A hot beverage maker comprises a stand, a water reservoir, a filter basket to hold beverage grinds to be brewed, a brewed beverage tank for holding a brewed beverage, a dispenser for dispensing the brewed beverage from the brewed beverage tank, and a floating brewed beverage level indicator. The floating indicator is adapted to protrude through an aperture in a wall of the brewed beverage tank. At least a portion of the indicator is buoyant and floats on a surface of the brewed beverage. A portion of the indicator protrudes through the aperture to indicate an amount of the brewed beverage in the brewed beverage tank.

An air purifier includes a housing having an air inlet, an air outlet and an airflow path therethrough. The housing has a top, a bottom and a plurality of sides. An air filter is located within the housing in the airflow path and a motor is located within the housing. The motor includes a motor shaft and a fan is on the motor shaft for urging air into the air inlet, through the airflow path and out of the air outlet. A cover is removably mounted to the housing proximate the air inlet and a base is removably mounted to the housing. The air purifier is positionable in one of a vertical operating orientation when the weight of the housing is supported by the base and a horizontal operating orientation when the weight of the housing is supported by one of the sides of the housing.

A toaster for heating a food stuff to a selected shade, includes a housing having at least one wall, at least one heating chamber within the housing for receiving the food stuff to be heated and at least one heating element for heating the food stuff in the heating chamber. A window is provided in the wall and a control knob is provided for controlling the time period that the food stuff is heated. The control knob is rotatable between a first end position at which the food stuff is heated for a short time period to provide a light food stuff shade, a second end position at which the food stuff is heated for a long time period to provide a dark food stuff shade and a plurality of intermediary positions between the first and second end positions it which the food stuff is heated for a selected time period between the short and long time periods to provide a food stuff shade between light and dark. A visual shade scale includes shades ranging from a light shade at a first end of the scale to a dark shade at a second end of the scale with increasingly darker shades when moving from the first end to the second end of the scale. The shade scale is movable with respect to the window by rotation of the control knob so that the shade of the scale which is aligned for display through the window corresponds to the expected food stuff shade after heating the food stuff for the selected time period.

A power cord storage module for an electrical device includes at least one fixed member forming a winding surface. A movable member moves relative to the fixed member between a retracted position and an extended position. The movable member includes a skirt. With the movable member in the extended position, the winding surface is accessible to allow the power cord to be manually wrapped upon or unwrapped from the winding surface. With the movable member in the retracted position and the power cord wrapped upon the winding surface, the skirt at least substantially covers the power cord.

A slow cooker is provided with a clamp assembly for holding the parts of the cooker together when transporting the cooker from one location to another. The clamp assembly includes downwardly-opening grooved portions of housing handles and an elastomeric band having opposite end portions received within the grooved portions of housing handles.
