An oscillating positive expiratory pressure apparatus having a housing defining a chamber, a chamber inlet, a chamber outlet, a deformable restrictor member positioned in an exhalation flow path between the chamber inlet and the chamber outlet, and an oscillation member disposed within the chamber. The deformable restrictor member and the oscillation member are moveable between an engaged position, where the oscillation member is in contact with the deformable restrictor member and an disengaged position, where the oscillation member is not in contact with the deformable restrictor member. The deformable restrictor member and the oscillation member move from the engaged position to the disengaged position in response to a first exhalation pressure at the chamber inlet, and move from the disengaged position to an engaged position in response to a second exhalation pressure at the chamber inlet.

Oscillating positive expiratory pressure device

A positive exhalation pressure device increases the pressure gradient in the airways, thereby increasing oxygen saturation levels and decreasing the severity of hypoxia. Various embodiments of the device may be inserted into the nasal and/or oral cavities, or configured as mask devices covering the nasal and/or oral cavities. In some embodiments, the resistance of the device may be varied.

Positive expiratory pressure device

A nasal mask has a flexible bottom edge portion and side portions. A delivery device includes a holding chamber coupled to the nasal mask. A method of delivering an inhalable substance includes positioning a nose of a user in a cavity of the nasal mask, inhaling through the nose, and orally soothing the user with a soothing device.

Delivery device and kit, and method of use

A ventilator circuit for use in administering medication to a patient includes a housing, a one-way inhalation valve and a one-way exhalation valve. A metered does inhaler receptacle is in fluid flow communication with an interior space of the housing holding chamber. An exhaust conduit communicates between input and output passageways disposed on opposite sides of the interior space.

A nasal insert includes a housing having a circumferential wall defining an interior passage. The wall has a longitudinal gap extending along a length thereof, with an outer peripheral dimension of the housing being adjustable by varying the gap. A valve is in communication with the interior passage and limits a fluid flow through the interior passage in at least one direction. In another embodiment, a nasal insert includes a user interface having a tubular housing defining an interior cavity open at opposite ends. An exterior surface of the housing is adapted to interface with a nasal vestibule of a user. A base is received in the interior cavity of the housing and includes an exit port. A cap is connected to the base and has an input port. A valve member is disposed in an interior passage defined by at least one of the cap and base, with the valve member being moveably received in the interior passage. Methods of using and assembling the nasal inserts also are provided.

Nasal insert and cannula and methods for the use thereof

A delivery device includes a toroidal shaped housing defining an interior chamber and a central open space. The housing includes an input port communicating with the interior chamber and a delivery port positioned on an inner periphery of the housing. The delivery port is in fluid communication between the interior chamber and the central open space. The delivery port is spaced from the input port, which is adapted to receive an aerosolized medicament. In another aspect, a kit includes an outer ring-like housing component and a plurality of differently configured inner ring-like housing components mateable with the outer ring-like housing to form a holding chamber. A method of delivering an inhalable substance is also provided. A mask, including mounting and sealing portions is also provided, together with a method of manufacturing such a mask. Delivery devices include various alternative adapters to be used with a mask and a substance dispenser.

Ventilator circuit aerosol delivery systems used to administer medication to a patient are disclosed. In one implementation, a metered dose inhaler ('MDI') ventilator assembly may include a housing that defines an interior space, an inhalation port that defines an inhalation passageway in communication with the interior space, an exhalation port that defines an exhalation passageway in communication with the interior space, a patient port that defines a patient passageway in communication with the interior space, and a MDI receptacle positioned on the housing and in communication with the interior space. The MDI receptacle is operative to receive a MDI container and dispense an aerosolized medication within the MDI container into the interior space so that during inhalation, an inhalation flow including the aerosolized medication may flow through the inhalation port, the interior space, and the patient port. Conversely, during exhalation, gases, moisture, condensation, and/or mucus expelled from the patient flow through the patient port, the interior space, and the exhalation port.

Aerosol delivery system

A nasal insert includes a user interface with a housing having a circumferential wall defining an interior passage. A valve is in communication with the interior passage and limits a fluid flow through the interior passage in at least one direction. An exterior surface of the housing is adapted to interface with a nasal vestibule of a user and define an exhalation flow path. Methods of using and assembling the nasal inserts also are provided.

Ventilator circuit and method for the use thereof

A medicament dispensing device for dispensing metered dosages of a medicament includes an actuator housing having a longitudinally extending cavity and a container disposed in the cavity and having a cylinder with a first outer diameter. The cylinder is adapted to hold the medicament. The container is reciprocally moveable relative to the actuator housing along a longitudinal axis. An indicating device includes an indicator housing having a tubular portion connected to said container, with the indicating device being reciprocally moveable with the container relative to the actuator housing. The tubular portion has a second outer diameter that is of substantially the same diameter as the first outer diameter. A longitudinally extending side wall has a viewing window formed therein. An indicator is rotatably mounted in the indicator housing, with a surface thereof having indicia visible through the viewing window.
