A test cartridge for evaluating biological fluids can have a sensor flow cell defining a flow path for selectively passing a test fluid or biological fluid across a sensor to evaluate the sensor or the biological fluid. The test cartridge can include a sample port and at least one deformable reservoir, both formed as part of the test cartridge and fluidly connected to the flow path upstream of the sensor. A biological fluid can be manually fed into the flow path through the sample port for evaluation by the sensor. Before the biological fluid is fed through the sample port, the deformable reservoir can be manually ruptured to pass the test fluid contained within the reservoir across the sensor to first evaluate the sensor. In an example, the deformable reservoir can include a first reservoir containing a liquid quality control (LQC) fluid and a second reservoir containing a calibration fluid.

Point of care test cartridge

Multipart functionalized materials are shown that remove sulfites from beverages and in particular wine. The functionalized materials consist of a solid support material having the ability to link polycarbonyls or polyamines thereto. The polycarbonyls and polyamines remove free and bound sulfites when put in contact with the beverage. The polycarbonyl and polyamine functionalized materials can be used separately or mixed together for accomplishing sulfite removal.

Adapters for use with sound devices and methods for making and using the same. In some embodiments, an example adapter may include an adapter body having a first side, a port or projection extending from the first side, and a second side. The second side is generally configured to be attachable to a sound device such as an earbud or earbud-type of headphone. The projection may include a sleeve attached thereto. The projection and sleeve are generally configured to at least in part extend into the ear canal of a user during use.

User disposable sleeves for use with sound controlling structures having a non-constant radial profile can include an inner portion adapted to releasably attach to the sound controlling structure and an outer portion adapted to fit within a user's ear canal. The user disposable sleeve can include holding means configured to releasably secure the sleeve to the elongate sound controlling structure and fitment means configured to conform to an inner surface of an ear. The fitment means can be fixedly disposed over the holding means.

User disposable sleeve for use within the ear canal

A hand-operated assembly that supplies secondary drive power and steering control to a secondary drive wheel of a wheel chair. The assembly comprises a handle that is controlled with one hand and a linkage rod that extends from the handle to an eccentric arm fitted to a one-way clutch assembly at a secondary drive wheel support axle. Reciprocating up-down, pivoting movements of the handle over a range Y' in the Y axis directs a linkage rod to rotate an eccentric arm fitted to a one-way clutch and a drive axle of a small diameter, secondary drive wheel. Independent 360&#xb0; rotation of the handle about a second, horizontal or Z axis steers the secondary drive wheel. A portion Y&#x2032; of the range of handle motion directs a flange at the linkage arm to engage a brake piece that contacts the secondary drive wheel. Large diameter, hand driven, primary drive wheels are separately available to the user for effecting normal chair conveyance.

A user-disposable member for placement and retention within the auditory anatomy, such as an ear canal. The user-disposable member includes a polymeric foam material, wherein the user-disposable member has a first portion having a peripheral outer surface having a first coefficient of friction, and a second portion having a peripheral outer surface having a second coefficient of friction different from the first coefficient of friction.

User disposable member for use within the ear canal and methods for manufacturing the same

A support pad for use in a hearing device of the type comprising a casing having an inner surface defining a cavity; and a sound receiving, amplification and transmitting system within the cavity in the casing, which system includes a transducer. The support pad includes a layer of conformable metal having first and second opposite major surfaces, and a layer of viscoelastic material along its first major surface. The support pad has an attachment portion with the layer of viscoelastic material along the attachment portion being adapted to be adhered to a side surface of the transducer, and has at least one tab portion adapted to project away from the transducer adjacent an end of the transducer. The tab portion is adapted to be shaped so that the second major surface along the tab portion is adjacent and conforms to the inner surface of the casing and can be adhered to the inner surface of the casing with the tab portion shaped and positioned so that the attachment portion of the support pad and the transducer are spaced from the inner surface of the casing.

A simple and inexpensive sleeve assembly that is easy to apply to and remove from the distal end portion of a sound control device and can be adapted to provide circumferential contact with a user's ear canal to control sound delivered to that ear canal at a desired level, to provide a cerumen guard at the end of a sound deliver tube included in the sound control device, or to provide both of those functions. The sleeve assembly comprises a first layer of flexible material (e.g., sound attenuating slow recovery foam, closed cell foam, open cell foam, reticulated open cell foam, or non-foamed polymeric material depending on the requirements of the sound control device on which the sleeve assembly is used) having a periphery that can be adapted to make partial or complete contact with or conform to the car canal of a user into which the sleeve assembly is inserted, or to make little or no contact with that ear canal. A stiff resiliently flexible attachment member having a through opening is fixed to one surface of the first layer. The first layer of material can have a hole between its first and second surfaces aligned with the opening in the attachment member to afford movement of a knob-like part at the distal end portion of a sound control device through the first layer and the opening in the attachment member, or alternatively, the knob-like part can be moved through the opening in the attachment member from its side opposite the first layer. The knob-like part and the area circumjacent to the opening in the attachment member then cooperate to provide complementary interlocking holding of the sleeve assembly on the end portion of the sound control device.

A free-standing lawn swing having a fold down platform which permits access by wheelchair bound users. A ramp platform pivots from a support platform. A crank arm linkage raises and lowers the ramp platform between reclined, loading, and raised, safety positions. A ground ramp section mates to the ramp platform.

An improved sleeve for mounting on the distal portion of a hearing aid or other sound control device to provide circumferential contact to the ear canal of a person into which the device is inserted. A currently preferred embodiment of the sleeve comprises a foam cylinder having an axial hole therethrough, with a washer-like disc axially aligned with the hole in the cylinder, the inner diameter of the disc being approximately the same as that of the hole through the cylinder. A knob-terminated sound delivery tube on the device snaps into the disc. A plurality of these sleeves can be stored in a novel tray-like container that permits removal only when a snap fit has been achieved between the sound delivery tube and the plastic disc. Used sleeves can be removed and stored in a separate compartment of the container.

Disposable foam sleeve for sound control device and container therefor

The present invention comprises a module for a surgical driver of the type having a handle and a barrel with an axis. The module comprises a releasable attachment mechanism for releasably attaching the module to the surgical driver, a tool mounting mechanism for releasably receiving an orthopedic surgical tool, and a rotational orientation mechanism for orienting the tool mounting mechanism in a plurality of angular positions about an axis of the barrel. The device includes a releasable locking mechanism for releasably locking the rotational orientation mechanism in one of a plurality of discrete angular positions about the axis of the barrel. The releasable locking mechanism has a locking member movable between lock and release positions. A spring biases the locking mechanism toward the lock position. The novel locking mechanism of the present invention may also be used in non-modular devices.
