A method of producing a magnetic resonance (MR) image of a region of interest is provided. The method includes the steps of: acquiring an initial MR image of the region of interest, the initial MR image mapping values of an MR-sensitive, physical property at positions over the region; determining a corresponding map of the estimated uncertainties in the values of the MR-sensitive, physical property over the region; and calculating a weighted MR image of the region, the weighted MR image mapping values of a function which combines, at each position of the initial image, the respective value of the MR-sensitive, physical property and the respective estimated uncertainty, the function applying a higher weighting to positions with relatively low estimated uncertainties than to positions with relatively high estimated uncertainties.

Method for producing a weighted magnetic resonance image

There is disclosed a method and apparatus for generating data for a two-dimensional image which identifies different classes of property of an imaged subject, this being done by separately rendering volumetric data classified into those different classes and, from all of those separate renderings, choosing one datum for use in the two-dimensional image as an image pixel. This being repeatable for each datum to be used in the two-dimensional image&#x2014;thereby, for example, to selectively build-up the data for whole of the two-dimensional image as a mixture/combination of different classes of data. The data for the two-dimensional image may be color coded for visually distinguishing data of different classes. Thus when applied to the image enhancement of tissues subjected to contrast agent uptake in patients kinetic information may be incorporated into the volume renderings to enable tissues of different enhancement and kinetic characteristics to be identified as such.

Time-sequential volume rendering

A method and means enabling identification in an NMR image, being one of a time-sequence of images recording induced changes in pixel values of successive images of a subject (such as post-contrast dynamic images), the contribution to the image arising from the presence within the image subject of a specified tissue (e.g. fat). This identification is done using a statistical measure derived from the dynamic data (e.g. pixel value changes due to contrast agent uptake) taken from a plurality of the separate images forming the time-sequence.

Method and means for image processing

There is disclosed a method apparatus for image processing of e.g. MRI images. A method and apparatus is disclosed enabling one to determine if an image contrast/intensity change of a chosen point within an imaged subject volume (e.g. a lesion) is an artefact of motion in the imaged subject. An apparatus and method for fast visual assessment of the imaged subject volume's alignment quality (within a time-sequence of images) is provided, and an interactive display tool enabling effective use of this method is provided.

Method and apparatus of processing a time-sequence of separate image data sets

An object is examined by detecting properties of the object at different times within a space formed by spatial frequencies. This is done such that temporally consecutive recordings are made in overlapping regions of the spatial frequency space and also in regions of the spatial frequency space that differ from one another.

Keyhole echo-planar imaging with double (T1 and T2*) contrast (DC-EPIC)

A CT scanner comprises a rotatable gantry 1 carrying an X-ray source 3 which provides a fan-shaped beam of X-rays and an X-ray detector 10 which scans the X-ray intensity along a line in the plain of the beam. The gantry is rotatable about an axis A relative to a couch 2 which supports the patient under investigation. The X-ray detector 10 comprises two concentric X-ray masks exposed around a scintillator tube; the two masks having helical X-ray transmissive apertures, the helices being of opposed orientation so that rotation of the masks in opposite directions causes the exposed area of the scintillator tube to move along its length.
