The sealing element has a ring consisting of an elastic material. A method is described for improving the long-term stability of a piezoelectric actuator encased in a potting compound containing or forming hydrogen atoms. Oxygen is contained in the piezoelectric actuator's piezoelectric ceramic. Appropriate means are employed so that unsaturated bonds of the hydrogen in the potting compound will release less oxygen from the piezoelectric ceramic. One means consists in reducing the concentration of hydrogen in the potting compound, with appropriate thermal processes as a result of which the concentration of hydrogen will be reduced to below a predefined threshold being applied after the piezoelectric actuator has been encased in the potting compound. Means that form bonds with the hydrogen in the potting compound or duct oxygen thereto are provided in further embodiments.

The invention relates to an injection valve in which the movable valve parts and the valve seat () form the electrodes of a capacitor that is connected in an electric circuit, the capacity of said capacitor changing with the valve lift of the closing element. According to the invention, the valve seat () is configured in the form of an electrically conductive nozzle body () that is connected to the electric circuit and the closing element is configured in the form of a valve needle () that is connected to the electric circuit by its end surface opposite the valve seat ().

The invention relates to an injection valve () comprising a booster piston (), said piston delimiting a pump chamber () and a booster chamber (). A valve () is provided in the inlet to the chamber (). The valve is configured as a 3/2-way valve and controls the pressure in the pump chamber (). The pressure in the pump chamber () is converted into a correspondingly increased pressure in the booster chamber () and in an injection chamber () containing an injection needle (), by means of the booster piston (). The use of the valve () allows a precise control of the injection times.

An injector has two interconnected main sections, a body section and an injector section. The injector section is connected to the body section by way of a form lock, and the connection is produced by a partial material connection. The injector is preferably suitable for use in a fuel-injection device for an internal combustion engine.

The sealing element has a ring consisting of an elastic material. The ring consists of a continuous support section, a first sealing lip, formed thereon for sealing the injector and a second sealing lip for sealing the cylinder head. The sealing lips project substantially inwards in a radial direction and together with the support section form a continuous groove of the ring. The axial thicknesses of the sealing lips are measured in such a way that said sealing lips have a deformable plasticity for sealing purposes, which depends on a predetermined force that is used to fix the injector in the cylinder head. The radial thickness of the support section is greater than the axial thickness of the sealing lips and is measured in such a way that the support section prevents the sealing element from being compressed, when said element is placed between the injector and the cylinder head.
