A cable breakout assembly is provided, including a feeder cable, a breakout structure having a first end threadedly engaged with a cable nut having a single-port cable gland through which the feeder cable extends, a central conduit which houses the sections of the feeder cable passing there through, and an opposed second end threadedly engaged with a cable nut having a multi-port cable gland, whose number of ports corresponds to the number of splices of the feeder cable. A plurality of environmentally sealed, flexible conduits are provided, each having a first end that interfaces with and extends from a respective port of the multi-port gland, and a second end adapted to interface with an external device, wherein each flexible conduit houses a respective spliced section of the feeder cable therein.

An optical connector (), in particular for outside use, for detachably connecting at least two optical cables along a connector axis () comprises a socket portion () and a plug portion (), which portions are substantially of cylindrical design with respect to the connector axis (), can be detachably plugged into one another along the connector axis () and can be locked in the plugged-in state. The present disclosure relates to a cable insertion () for connecting a cable () to a housing (). The cable insertion () includes a connection device () having a cantilever-like element () having a mounting fixture () on the front end thereof for mounting a mating part () attached to a jacket () of the cable (). A securing means () secures the fixture.

Disclosed is a method for removably connecting two groups of individual, parallel fibers that are delimited by end faces that are perpendicular to the fiber axis. The two groups of fibers are moved towards each other in an axial direction until each of the fibers abuts against the end face of the assigned fiber from the other group. The fibers of the two groups are aligned in pairs relative to each other before being moved into contact with each other, and any differences in fiber lengths is compensated for by elastically deforming the fiber along the fiber main axis. This method eliminates the disadvantages associated with bending the fibers because length variations are essentially compensated for by axially compressing the fibers.
