A print laminating adhesive composition comprising a selected acrylate terminated photopolymerizable oligomer of the formula: ##STR1## where A is the residue of a diisocyanate selected from the group consisting of diphenylmethane 4,4.sup.1 diisocyanate and 4,4.sup.1 dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate; X is the residue of polypropylene glycol having a molecular weight of from about 150 to 4000; R is alkyl or hydroxyalkyl of 2 to 10 carbons; R.sup.1 is alkylene of 2 to 3 carbons; and R.sup.2 is hydrogen or methyl.

U.V. curable laminating adhesive composition

Radiation-cured pressure-sensitive adhesives are provided comprising a radiation cured polyurethane backbone capped with both an acrylic or methacrylic reactive terminating group and residues of a mono-ol or polyol non-reactive terminating group. The adhesives include a functional amount of a thio compound which provides for improved control in pressure-sensitive adhesive properties when the adhesive precursor is irradiated.

Radiation-cured pressure sensitive adhesives

A two-part initiator system useful in acrylic adhesive compositions comprising in one part a stable organoboron amine complex and in the second part an aldehyde destabilizer or activator. This initiator is particularly useful in elastomeric acrylic adhesive compositions and provides room temperature, relatively slow curing systems with good adhesive properties making them useful in applications where longer open times are required.

Acrylic adhesive composition and organoboron initiator system

In a two-part adhesive composition wherein one-part comprises a polymerizable acrylic monomer and an organoboron amine complex and the second-part contains an organic acid destabilizer and optional acrylic polymer, the improvement wherein a transparent or clear bond is provided in the cured adhesive composition by having about 45% or more by weight of the total acrylic monomer in the composition comprising selected phenyl containing acrylic compounds.

Transparent two-part acrylic adhesive composition and the method of use

A two-part initiator system useful in acrylic adhesive compositions comprising in one-part a stable organoboron amine complex and in the second part an organic acid destabilizer or activator. This initiator is particularly useful in elastomeric acrylic adhesive compositions and provides a fast, room temperature cure with good stability and exhibiting both high tensile strength and high peel strength.

This invention provides novel adducts of cyclic ethylene urea which are useful as permanent press agents. These adducts include acid, polyacid, ester, and multiester derivatives of cyclic ethylene urea and can be produced by the reaction of the cyclic ethylene urea with glyoxylic acid and glyoxylic acid derivatives, specifically ester acetals of glyoxylic acid. Such materials impart a high degree of permanent press properties to cellulose and cellulose/polymer blend fabrics.

Ethylene urea compositions useful as permanent press promoting chemicals

Fast curing, two part adhesives and articles bonded therewith are disclosed. The adhesives comprise a first part of free radical polymerizable acrylic monomers and a diazonium salt sufficient to initiate polymerization of said monomers. A second part comprises an activator to induce the free radical decomposition of the diazonium salt, said activator being an aldehyde-amine condensation product. The described curable adhesives are formed just prior to use where the second part containing the activator is placed in contact with the first part. Both the first part and second part component exhibit a high degree of stability when stored separately.

Adhesive compositions

A pressure sensitive, hot melt adhesive is prepared by reacting a normally tacky acrylic-based random copolymer containing from 0.5 to 10% by weight of a chelating comonomer with a chelatable transition metal salt. Preferably the adhesives are oven cured for a short time after application. The chelating comonomer is a beta-hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate ester of an ortho-hydroxy aromatic acid such as 2-hydroxy-3-(2-hydroxy-benzoyloxy)propyl methacrylate. The metallic salt (e.g. zirconium, ferric, cobalt, or aluminum acetylacetonate) contains a metal ion having a valence greater than 1 and a coordination number greater than 2 and an anion capable of forming a volatile by-product. One or more thermally reversible chelate rings incorporating the metal ion are formed thus crosslinking the polymer chains.

Pressure sensitive, hot melt adhesives

Actinic radiation curable compositions comprise chemically bonded portions of at least one free radical polymerizable hydroxyalkyl ester of an alpha, beta unsaturated carboxylic acid, at least one non-halogenated cyclic anhydride, at least one epoxide and a halogenated free radical initiator which is activatable by actinic radiation. Upon exposure to actinic radiation, these compositions are cured with very little or no inhibition by atmospheric oxygen.

Actinic radiation curable compositions

A photocurable electroconductive coating composition adapted to be crosslinked and insolubilized by actinic radiation comprises an acrylic monomer, a photoactivatable free radical polymerization initiator and a salt of a copolymerizable organic compound, wherein at least one of the monomers contains more than one polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated group. The cured coatings are insoluble in aqueous and organic solvents and are conductors of electricity suitable for conductive underlayers of photoconductive imaging elements and as antistatic coatings.

Photocurable electroconductive coating composition

A two part adhesive composition characterized by rapid curing and long shelf life is disclosed. The adhesive composition comprises a first component of an acrylic monomer and copper saccharinate or saccharin and a soluble copper salt and a second component comprising an alpha-hydroxy sulfone or an alpha-amino sulfone or mixtures thereof which functions as an activator therefor.

Rapid curing two part adhesives

Improved pressure sensitive adhesive compositions based on acrylate ester polymers and the substrates coated therewith. The improved adhesive and cohesive properties result from the addition to the polymer of specified quinone ultraviolet sensitizers and the subsequent crosslinking thereof by exposure to an ultraviolet source.

Crosslinked pressure sensitive adhesive compositions

Anaerobic curing compositions useful as anaerobic adhesives and sealants are described. These compositions comprise mixtures of polymerizable acrylic and substituted acrylic monomers together with a catalyst comprising an alpha-amino sulfone compound.
