The invention relates to a transmission assembly (), for imparting a phase difference between an outer wheel and an inner wheel of a spline VVT. The assembly comprises a tubular meshing member () having an inner surface () and an outer surface (), wherein at least a portion of the inner surface is provided with a first spline () and at least a portion of the outer surface is provided with a second spline (). The first spline and the second spline do not have the same pitch in the same groove direction. The transmission assembly further comprises a bearing arrangement () and an actuation member (). The bearing arrangement is arranged between the meshing member and the actuation member to allow a transfer of an axial displacement of the actuation member to the meshing member and allow a rotation of the meshing member relative to the actuation member.

Phase adjusting device

An internal combustion engine is presented, in which the valves () are adapted to be actuated by a valve actuation arrangement (), the valve actuation arrangement () comprising actuation adjustment mechanisms (), adapted to assume a first position whereby the valves can be actuated according to a first valve lift mode, and to assume a second position whereby the valves can be actuated according to a second valve lift mode. Further, the position the actuation adjustment mechanisms () at a first set of cylinders is controllable through a first mechanism control system (), and the position of the actuation adjustment mechanisms () at a second set of cylinders is controllable through a second mechanism control system (), whereby the first set of cylinders consists of cylinders which are consecutive in a firing sequence, during operation of the engine according to at least one engine operation mode.

Internal combustion engine

A method for controlling a direct injection combustion engine is disclosed. The method includes generating an air/fuel mixture to the respective cylinders of the engine, and switching between at least a first mode of operation and a second mode of operation of the engine by adjusting the air/fuel mixture supplied to the engine and the amount of time for injecting the mixture. The switch in mode of operation is initiated in connection with operation of the engine with an air/fuel mixture adjusted in such manner that correct operation of the engine is allowed in both modes of operation during the switch. An arrangement for such a control is also disclosed. The method and arrangement provides an improved control between, for example, a stratified and a homogeneous mode of operation in a direct injection engine, wherein stable combustion in the engine and improved comfort for the passengers is achieved.

Method and arrangement for controlling a combustion engine

The invention relates to a method for limitation of at least one controllable operating parameter that can cause ageing of at least one component or one material in connection with an engine. The method includes the steps of determination of a maximum limit value allowed regarding the operating parameter and control of the engine so that the limit value is not exceeded, thereby limiting ageing of the component or material. The invention includes continuous determination of a measure that corresponds to the degree of impairment of the component that depends on ageing, wherein said determination of the limit value is made depending on the measure. The invention also relates to an arrangement for accomplishing this method. By means of the invention, an improved method and arrangement is provided for limitation of ageing of components and materials that, in particular, are arranged in connection with a combustion engine in a vehicle, thereby providing improved fuel consumption, improved emissions and improved performance of the vehicle.
