Fiber mounting units for supporting an optical fiber for fiber laser systems are disclosed and include a base body having a fiber end attachment section, a fiber guide section, and a connection section arranged between the fiber end attachment section and the fiber guide section. The fiber end attachment section is adapted to attach a receiving element, which holds a fiber end portion of the optical fiber, the fiber guide section is adapted to guide a fiber central portion of the optical fiber, and the connection section is configured as a flexure bearing between the fiber end attachment section and the fiber guide section.

Fiber mounting units and fiber receiving elements

An optical element holding device adjusts an optical element about a first and second axis and includes a main support, and a first plate-shaped support mounted on the main support via a first flexure bearing. The first support can pivot about the first axis. A second support is mounted on the first support via a second flexure bearing and can pivot about the second axis and fasten to the optical element. A first and second actuating element are actuated from a same side of the optical element holding device. A transmission device connected to the first and the second supports transmits the second actuating element movement acting on the transmission device into a pivoting movement of the second support about the second axis. The pivoting positions of the first and second supports can be set by the actuating elements and the second axis is oriented substantially perpendicularly to the plate-shaped first support.

Optical element holding device for adjusting an optical element

A method for monitoring a laser system including a plurality of laser modules connected in series, there being connected in parallel to each laser module a bypass arrangement for bridging the corresponding laser module, includes determining a first laser power of the laser system with a plurality of laser modules operational; activating the bypass arrangement of at least one laser module so that at least one of the plurality of laser modules is bypassed; determining a second laser power of the laser system with the at least one of the plurality of laser modules bypassed; and monitoring the laser system based on a difference between the first and second laser power.

Determining the degradation and/or efficiency of laser modules

A laser system includes at least two sources configured to provide at least two spatially separated laser beams, and a mount configured to mount the at least two sources along an arc, the arc defining an angular coordinate and a radial coordinate, wherein an axial coordinate is orthogonal to the angular coordinate and the radial coordinate, and the spatially separated laser beams are separated in the axial coordinate. The mount is further configured to mount the at least two sources providing thereby an offset of the laser beams in the axial coordinate such that the laser beams interleave in the axial direction at a center region of the arc.

Interleaving laser beams

A diode laser apparatus includes a plurality of laser bars, each laser bar having an emission direction and a beam path. The laser bars are disposed along an arc, the emission directions of the laser bars are directed toward an inside of the arc, and a slow-axis direction of each laser bar is oriented along the arc.

Diode laser arrangement and associated beam shaping unit

A beam shaping optical arrangement combines three incoming laser beams that are mutually laterally offset in two orthogonal directions (X and Y), including an incoming first central laser beam and second and third incoming beams laterally offset in the X direction on either side of the central beam, into one outgoing combined laser beam. The arrangement includes two lateral displacement optical units though which the laterally offset incoming beams are transmitted and that laterally displace the two laterally offset incoming beams along the X direction towards the incoming central beam but which do not laterally offset the incoming central beam. The lateral displacement units include a material having a higher refractive index than a medium located in an optical path of the central laser beam, and the optical path length traversed by the incoming laterally offset laser beams is selected such that, after transmission though the optical units, the diameters of the central laser beam and the laterally offset laser beams are approximately equal at least in the X direction, and a divergence of the central laser beam is approximately equal to a divergence of the laterally offset laser beams.
