The adapter plate deflects the fluid flow between the first processing unit and the second processing unit at least partially; and/or controls the fluid flow, preferably, the pressure thereof, in an open loop or closed loop manner. A method for the modular construction of a processing system () for biopharmaceutical processes is also disclosed.

An automated modular filtration system, particularly for low volume tangential flow filtration processes, comprises a plurality of filtration modules formed as separate assemblies and at least one control unit for jointly controlling filtration processes of individual filtration units. Each filtration module contains at least one individual filtration unit for executing a filtration process independent of the other filtration units, first input ports for receiving a first type of fluids, second input ports for receiving a second type of fluids, and exit ports for outputting unused system fluids. First type fluids are process fluids are specific to the filtration processes executed in individual filtration units. Second type fluids are system fluids not specific to filtration processes executed in the individual filtration units. The second input and exit ports establish inter-module connections so system fluids can be forwarded from one filtration module to an adjacent filtration module of the filtration system.

Automated modular filtration system

The proposed prefabricated filtration module is provided for a modular filtration system, in particular a cross-flow filtration system, for low-volume screening applications. The prefabricated filtration module includes fluid ports and a plurality of components adjusted to low-volume screening applications, which are firmly integrated into the filtration module. The present invention relates to a method for separating viruses from a contaminant-containing liquid medium using two adsorbents having cationic groups, wherein the viruses are adsorbed to the first adsorbent and subsequently eluted and wherein the contaminants present in the resulting eluate are subsequently adsorbed to the second adsorbent. The yield and purity of the viruses obtained as per the method according to the invention is increased by the addition of multivalent anions during the adsorption of the contaminants to the second adsorbent.
