The invention relates to a self-propelled construction machine, in particular a road milling machine, which possesses an undercarriage which has front and rear&#x2014;in the working direction&#x2014;wheels or travelling gears, a machine frame which is borne by the undercarriage, and a working means. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for controlling a self-propelled construction machine, in particular a road milling machine. The invention is based on the detection of objects O situated in the ground at a time at which the objects O can be readily detected. The construction machine according to the invention possesses a means for generating predictive object signals which are characteristic of the position of objects which lie in a portion of the ground which lies in the working direction A in front of the working region of the working means. Furthermore, the construction machine has a signal processing means which receives the object signals, which means is configured such that during the advance of the construction machine object signals relating to the working means are obtained from the predictive object signals, these signals being characteristic of the position of the objects in a portion of the ground which relates to the working region of the working means.

The invention further relates to an edge protection for a road milling machine or similar ground processing machine having skid segments of this kind, wherein the edge protection has an edge which is designed to receive at least one skid segment.

A texturing machine is provided for the subsequent treatment of a freshly produced concrete layer having a width between left and right edges and extending longitudinally in a working direction. Left and right height sensors are arranged to detect a height above the freshly produced concrete adjacent the left and right edges of the layer. At least one crown height sensor is arranged to detect a height above a crown of the freshly produced concrete layer. A controller is configured to receive input signals from the height sensors and to communicate height control sensors to the height adjustable columns and to communicate a crown control system to the crown actuator. A direction sensor may also detect at least one of the edges of the freshly produced concrete layer. The controller may receive a direction input signal from the direction sensor, and the controller may communicate a direction control signal to a steering actuator of one of the ground engaging units of the machine.

The invention relates to an interchangeable chisel holder () which can be fixed to a milling drum () of a ground-working machine (), having a forward chisel holder () for the interchangeable holding of a forward chisel (), preferably a round-shaft chisel, and having a rearward chisel (), which is held on the interchangeable chisel holder (), wherein, as based on a working movement () of the interchangeable chisel holder () when used in the ground-working machine (), the rearward chisel () is arranged behind the forward chisel holder (). In such an interchangeable candleholder () provision can be made, according to the invention, for the rearward chisel () to be held on the interchangeable chisel holder () axially and fixed in the circumferential direction of the chisel holder. Maintenance-induced stoppages of the ground-working machine can thus be reduced and the loss of chisels can at least be lowered.

The invention relates to a tool combination consisting of a chisel holder, which can be fastened to a milling drum of a soil tillage machine, and at least one leading and one trailing chisel, which are retained on the chisel holder, wherein the trailing chisel is arranged after the leading chisel, based on a working movement of the tool combination in use in the soil tillage machine, and wherein each chisel has a chisel tip having a cutter. According to the invention the trailing chisel tip of the trailing chisel has, at least in some areas, a greater hardness than the leading chisel tip of the leading chisel. Thus stoppage times of the soil tillage machine for maintenance can be reduced and the loss of chisels can at least be decreased.

A self-propelled construction machine comprises a control unit configured in such a way that a point of reference on the construction machine moves along a route. A processing unit is configured in such a way that the position of at least one kink on the target route is determined from the imported data, at least a portion of the target route is displayed, and, for the section of the target route in which the target route has the kink, an interpolation curve that is substantially free of kinks is calculated. The relevant section of the target route is replaced by the interpolation curve for the determination of a modelled route. The control of the drive device is then not based upon the predetermined target route, but rather the modelled target route.

A self-propelled paving machine includes a plurality of swing legs, each swing leg being supported from a ground surface by an associated crawler track steerably connected to an outer end of its associated swing leg. The machine may be re-oriented from a paving mode to a transport mode by driving the ground engaging units to rotate the frame substantially in place on the ground through a re-orientation angle of the frame relative to the ground, and as the frame is rotating, pivoting one or more of the swing legs from a paving position relative to the frame, to a transport position relative to the frame.

The invention relates to an automotive construction machine with a transport device extending in the working direction beyond the machine frame, in particular a road milling machine or surface miner. Moreover, the invention relates to a method for displaying an image of the surroundings of an automotive construction machine. The construction machine according to the invention has an image display device for displaying a bird's eye view image of the surroundings of the construction machine, which image display device has a camera system with a plurality of cameras for recording individual overlapping image regions of the construction machine surroundings from different image recording positions, and an image processing system. The image processing system is configured in such a way that image details of the individual image regions are joined together to form a total image from a bird's eye view. The camera system has at least one camera which is arranged on the transport device in such a way that the viewing direction of the camera is directed in the direction of the machine frame, and at least one further camera which is arranged on the machine frame in such a way that the viewing direction of the camera is directed away from the machine frame. Using the cameras directed into and away from the machine frame, the machine operator obtains a complete surround view, which includes the region covered by the transport device in the working direction in front of the construction machine.

Automotive construction machine and method for displaying the surroundings of an automotive construction machine

The invention relates to an automotive construction machine, in particular a road milling machine, recycler or surface miner, and to a method for displaying an image of the surroundings of an automotive construction machine. The construction machine according to the invention has an image display device for displaying a bird's eye view image of the surroundings of the construction machine, which image display device has a camera system with a plurality of cameras provided on the machine frame for recording individual overlapping image regions of the construction machine surroundings from different image recording positions, and an image processing system. The image processing system is configured in such a way that image details of the individual image regions are joined together to form a total image from a bird's eye view. For this purpose, the construction machine has a position detection device, which detects the height and/or the incline of the machine frame in relation to the ground surface and cooperates with the position detection device in such a way that when the image details of the individual image regions are joined together to form a total image from a bird's eye view, the course of the stitching which is located between the image details and within the overlapping regions of the image regions is determined depending on the height and/or the incline of the machine frame in relation to the ground surface.

A method is provided for preparing an area of the ground surface to be milled by a milling machine. Prior to performing any milling operation on the area of the ground surface, a survey vehicle separate from the milling machine is used to traverse the area. The survey vehicle detects the presence of buried obstacles with a sensor and generates a sensor output signal indicative of the presence of the buried obstacle. The sensor output signal is received in a controller which generates a sprayer actuation signal and responds to the sensor output signal. A marking sprayer is actuated in response to the sprayer actuation signal and sprays the ground surface above the obstacle with a visible marking emitted from the sprayer. Subsequently, a milling machine separate from the survey vehicle may be utilized to mill the ground surface and by observation of the visible markings the operator may avoid impacting the milling drum with the buried obstacles.

A system for automatically varying the mold width and thus the paving width of a molded concrete slab on the fly as the slab is being molded. An external stringline reference is used to control the height and direction of a first side of the paving machine. A slope sensor is used for automatic control of the height of the second side of the machine frame. A starting point signal generator provides a signal to initiate the automatic width transition. A controller controls width actuators for controlled variation of the mold width in response to the starting signal and a pre-programmed function of the controller.
