A method and system is provided wherein a multiple number of non-preauthenticated clients and non-preauthenticated principals are seeking to logon into a Kerberos domain. Normally, such logon operations would be held-up and stopped until any one single client or principal had completed his logon authorization. However, the present system uses an asynchronous message mechanism by which any single non-preauthenticated client or non-preauthenticated principal can complete his initial logon operation without having to wait for another's authenticating logon operation to be completed. A series of asynchronous message mechanisms are provided in which any single client or principal can complete and finalize the authentication of his logon without having to wait for the completion of other requesting clients and principals seeking to logon and be authenticated.

Non pre-authenticated kerberos logon via asynchronous message mechanism

A system and method is provided which facilitates an expedited message control system which previously required the passage of messages from the Kerberos Server to a Kerberos Support Library, residing on a ClearPath NX Server, to a client workstation in a synchronous fashion. The present system expedites the message response to a client by allowing an intermediary such as the Kerberos Support Library (residing on the ClearPath NX Server), to respond on behalf of the Kerberos Server which does not need to be contacted, since synchronization of updated information is effectuated continually between the Kerberos Server and the Kerberos Support Library.

Expedited message control for synchronous response in a Kerberos domain

A network wherein multiple client-terminals can communicate with a client-server and Kerberos Server. A client may request service from a Kerberos Server, via a Kerberos Support Library, which can be handled as a synchronous message response from the Kerberos Server and Kerberos Support Library, such that the program managing the response does not need to access any other programs for the handling and transmitting of the synchronous message response back to the client. Thus an unsolicited message is returned to the client-terminal without any interference to the operator's usage of the client-terminal during the interim.

Synchronous message control system in a Kerberos domain

A plurality of client-terminals are connected to utilize the facilities of a client-server and a Kerberos Server in a Kerberos domain. A client-terminal requesting Kerberos service is facilitated by cooperating programs designated as the communications management system program (COMS) and the Menu Assisted Resource Control program (MARC) which enable access to a Kerberos Server for building a response message to said requesting client-terminal without disabling continued usage of said client-terminal.

A Kerberos domain network enables multiple client-terminals to communicate with one or more client-servers and a Kerberos Server. A request for Kerberos service by a requesting client-terminal is managed by a communication management system program (COMS) working in conjunction with a message control system program (MCS). These programs enable the original client-terminal request to be processed by a Kerberos Security Library and Kerberos server to develop an asynchronous response message for said original client-terminal request.
