A medical device may include a main shaft extending from a proximal end to a distal end; an actuator at a proximal portion of the medical device; an end effector positioned at a distal end of the main shaft and comprising a first jaw and a second jaw; a motor; and a torque amplification system. The torque amplification system may include a driveshaft coupled to the motor; a spring coupled to the driveshaft and configured to expand or contract in a proximal or a distal direction relative to the driveshaft; a hammer moveably coupled to the driveshaft; and an anvil coupled to the end effector and abutting the hammer. The anvil may be configured to provide a rotational power output to the end effector to move the first jaw and/or the second jaw.

Devices, systems, and methods for torque amplification in medical systems

The present disclosure, in its various aspects, is directed to instrument accessory devices, implementation methods, and related delivery systems. Embodiments according to the present disclosure, including as described herein, may increase the effectiveness and efficiency of endoscopy procedures, such as ERCP. In one example, an embodiment includes an instrument accessory device with an expandable member, the device configured to receive an instrument through an instrument lumen, wherein the expandable member comprises an aperture on the inner surface and outer surface, and the outer surface is in fluid communication with the inner surface.

Devices, systems, and methods for an instrument accessory

The present disclosure, in its various aspects, is directed to instrument accessory devices, implementation methods, and related delivery systems. Embodiments according to the present disclosure, including as described herein, may increase the effectiveness and efficiency of endoscopic procedures, such as Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). In one example, an embodiment includes an instrument accessory device with an expandable member, the device configured to receive an instrument through an instrument lumen, wherein the outer surface may comprise an expandable material. The device may comprise a constrainment element disposed about the outer surface of the expandable member, the constrainment element comprising a proximal end, a distal end, an inner surface, and an outer surface.

A medical device may comprise a distal tip having a viewing element, a lighting element, and at least one feature configured to removably couple the distal tip to a shaft. The medical device may also comprise a working channel coupled to the distal tip and defining a central lumen configured to receive a tool. A wall of the working channel may define at least one additional lumen. The working channel may be configured to be removably inserted into the shaft. The medical device may also comprise at least one of a wire, a cable, or a conduit passing through the at least one additional lumen.

An implantable device for encapsulating cells includes one or more cell encapsulation layers. Each of the cell encapsulation layers includes a first membrane that is semipermeable, a second membrane that is semipermeable, and a first plurality of weld lines. The second membrane is attached to the first membrane by the first plurality of weld lines. The first membrane, the second membrane, and the first plurality of weld lines define at least one cell channel for encapsulating cells. The cell encapsulation device is configurable between a collapsed configuration and an inflated configuration.

A cell encapsulation device for implantation in a body includes one or more cell encapsulation layers, each of the one or more cell encapsulation layers including at least one membrane and a guide tube. The at least one membrane is semipermeable. The least one membrane forms a chamber for encapsulating cells and at least one access port through the at least one membrane. The guide tube extends into the chamber from the at least one access port. The guide tube includes a porous wall along at least a portion of its length. The guide tube is capable of guiding movement of a catheter within the chamber.

A device for aseptic delivery of biological material from a vial includes a tubular barrel, a filter assembly, and a dispersion assembly. The dispersion assembly is at least partially disposed within the tubular barrel. The dispersion assembly includes a dispersion element, a piston, and a one-way valve. The dispersion element is in fluid communication with the vial to disperse the biological material from the vial. The piston is disposed at the distal end of the dispersion assembly and is in sealing contact with the tubular barrel. The one-way valve forms a fluid passageway in fluid communication with the dispersion element and the tubular barrel. The one-way valve is configured to allow a flow of the dispersed biological material from the dispersion element, through the fluid passageway, and into the tubular barrel, and to prevent a flow of the dispersed biological material from the tubular barrel into the dispersion assembly.

Cryotherapeutic delivery device

A medical instrument may include a tube, a sheath provided around and coaxial with the tube, and an inflatable balloon at a distal end of the sheath. The balloon may receive a fluid from a lumen of the sheath, and may have a central opening along a longitudinal axis thereof, and into which the tube extends, a proximal portion, a middle portion adjacent to and distal of the proximal portion, and a distal portion adjacent to and proximal of the middle portion. When the balloon is inflated with the fluid, a maximum diameter of the middle portion may be less than a maximum diameter of the proximal portion, and less than a maximum diameter of the distal portion. The medical instrument may also include an extraction member provided at a distal end of the tube, distal to the balloon, and movable axially relative to the balloon.

Embodiments herein relate to cell encapsulation membranes, devices including the same, and related methods. In an embodiment, a cell encapsulation membrane is included. The cell encapsulation membrane can include a mesh substrate. The mesh substrate can include a first series of fibers extending in a first direction and a second series of fibers extending in a second direction, the first series of fibers intersecting with the second series of fibers, the mesh substrate defining a plurality of apertures disposed between adjacent fibers of the first series and the second series. The cell encapsulation membrane can further include a coating disposed on the mesh substrate, the coating partially occluding the plurality of apertures defined by the mesh substrate and forming pores. Other embodiments are also included herein.

Cell encapsulation membranes, devices and methods

A device for aseptic delivery of biological material from a vial includes a tubular barrel, a filter assembly, and a dispersion funnel assembly. The tubular barrel includes a receiving end to accept at least a portion of the vial within the tubular barrel, and a dispensing end opposite the receiving end. The filter assembly is fluidly connected to the dispensing end of the tubular barrel. The dispersion funnel assembly is configured to connect to the vial, and to be disposed at least partially within the tubular barrel. The dispersion funnel assembly has an open configuration to disperse the biological material from the vial into the tubular barrel between the dispersion funnel assembly and the filter assembly, and a closed configuration to force the dispersed biological material through the filter assembly when the dispersion funnel assembly is moved toward the dispensing end of the tubular barrel.

A dissection device may include an inflatable balloon disposed at a distal end of a catheter, the catheter having an inflation lumen extending through the catheter to an interior space defined within the inflatable balloon. The inflatable balloon may include a top wall, a bottom wall spaced apart from the top wall, an outer perimeter wall extending between the top wall and the bottom wall, and a plurality of inner walls each extending between the top wall and the bottom wall and in sealing contact with the outer perimeter wall at a first end of the inner wall. The inflatable balloon may include a series of interconnected chambers including a central chamber in direct fluid communication with the inflation lumen, and laterally disposed chambers each having an opening fluidly connecting to each adjacent chamber.
