A transport device, in particular, for transporting cooling blocks () in a casting machine with caterpillar mold, wherein the transport device includes: a plurality of roller elements (), which circulate endless in a caterpillar-like manner on a circulating path U and is drivable by a drive device (); at least two parallel guide paths (), each of which includes one or more roller running surfaces () and each of which extends over the entire circulating path U; wherein each roller element () includes a roller element body (), which has a first end () and a second end () in the direction of circulation; each roller element () includes at least one roller () respectively in the area of the first end () and in the area of the second end (); and the rollers () situated in the area of the first end () of roller element body () roll on roller running surfaces () different from those of the rollers () situated in the area of the second end () of the roller element body ().

Transport device

The present casting machine and the underlying caterpillar-mold casting method distinguish themselves by the fact that the blocks () forming the mold circulate caterpillar-like around one of the casting caterpillars () and are subdivided in the lateral direction into individual elements that are held together, the elements, which rest on a transport means, being held on the transport means at least over a part of the circumference of the caterpillar by means of stationary magnets.
