The invention relates to a method and to a device for performing a process (P) having at least one heat-consuming process step (F). A first fluid (), which arises in the process and contains acid gases and water vapor, is cooled indirectly against a second fluid (), an acidic condensate thus being formed. The invention is characterized in that the first fluid () is cooled in at least two successive steps (E, E), between which heat for use in the heat-consuming process step (V) is indirectly drawn from the second fluid ().

Method and device for cooling a synthesis gas flow

The invention relates to a process and device for the cryogenic separation of a methane-containing feed gas predominantly consisting of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, that is partially condensed in this case by cooling, in order to obtain a hydrogen-containing first liquid phase predominantly consisting of carbon monoxide and methane, from which first liquid phase, in an Hseparation column that is heated via a circulation heater, a second liquid phase is generated by separating off hydrogen, from which second liquid phase, in a CO/CHseparation column, a carbon monoxide-rich gas phase is obtained having a purity that permits release thereof as carbon monoxide product. It is characteristic in this case that a low-methane material stream is withdrawn from the Hseparation column and is then applied to the CO/CHseparation column as reflux.

Process and device for the cryogenic separation of synthesis gas

A process for producing and purifying a synthesis gas stream that contains CO- and H-produced from a hydrocarbon-containing feed in a gas production unit. COis separated from the synthesis gas stream and CO is cryogenically separated from the synthesis gas stream. COthat makes up 5% to 30% by volume in the synthesis is reduced to less than 10 ppm by volume by temperature swing adsorption. The temperature swing adsorption takes place upstream of the cryogenic separation of CO. The COis adsorbed using a disordered adsorbent bed wherein the adsorbent is cooled by means of indirect heat transfer from the adsorbent to the heat transfer medium during adsorption and the adsorbent loaded with COis heated by indirect heat transfer from the heat transfer medium to the adsorbent to effect desorption of CO.

Process for producing and purifying a synthesis gas

A method for operating a steam reforming plant wherein a hydrocarbon-rich feed is reacted with steam to form synthesis gas. The plant includes a steam reforming reactor and processing units to obtain a hydrogen-rich fraction after separation of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. The plant also includes a pressure-swing adsorption plant to separate the hydrogen-rich fraction into product and residual gas. A recycle compressor is included and allows the plant to operate is two different modes. In the first mode, carbon dioxide separated from the synthesis gas is compressed and added to the hydrocarbon-rich feed. In the second mode, the recycle compressor is used to recycle residual gas from the pressure-swing adsorption plant to the hydrogen-rich fraction upstream of the pressure-swing adsorption plant.

Method for operating a steam reforming plant

The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for producing synthesis gas () by steam reforming, in which nitrogen is separated off from a starting material () containing hydrocarbons and nitrogen in order to produce a low-nitrogen feed () for a burner-fired steam reformer (D), with formation of a hydrocarbon-containing residual gas () which subsequently serves as fuel (). Nitrogen is separated off adsorptively (N) from the starting material and the hydrocarbon-containing residual gas () is used for firing the steam reformer (D).

Process and apparatus for producing synthesis gas

The invention relates to a process for regenerating the adsorbers of adsorber stations in the crude gas stream of installations for obtaining gas products from synthesis gas with the aid of a cryogenic gas separation unit. A part-stream from the purified synthesis gas stream, which is taken off downstream of the adsorber station but upstream of its cryogenic separation and is fed to the adsorber to be regenerated, is used as regeneration gas. The laden regeneration gas is either fed back to the crude synthesis gas stream upstream of the COscrub, admixed to a product stream or removed from the installation.
