A patient device () having a first interface () for the wireless transmission of data from and to an implant and having a second interface () for the remote data communication with a central service center and having a third interface () different from the first and second interfaces, the third interface () being implemented for connecting a programming device to the patient device () and the patient device () being implemented to relay programming data received via the third interface () on the part of a programming device to the first interface () and wirelessly transmit it to an implant.

Patient device for wireless data communication with an implant

A patient device (PD) for wireless data communication with an implant. The PD can be at least in an unpaired state or a paired state. In the paired state the PD is paired to a specific implant specified by an implant's identification code (IIC). The IIC is stored in PD memory. Automatic pairing of the PD to a specific implant is performed upon receiving an incoming data packet containing an IIC when the PD is in its unpaired state with no valid IIC stored in memory. Thus, the PD is tentatively paired to an implant identified by the IIC contained in the incoming data packet by storing the IIC in the memory. Tentative pairing is cancelled if no further communication occurs within a predetermined period of time. A soft paired state is entered if further data communication does occur.

Patient device for bidirectional data communication with an implant

The invention relates to a transmission module for transmitting data in the form of useful digital signals by modulation of a carrier, determined by the useful signals, by means of frequency shift keying. The transmission module contains a PLL circuit with a voltage-controlled oscillator and a controllable frequency divider with a frequency divider control input. The transmission module is designed to induce direct frequency shift keying (DFSK) of the carrier signal by appropriate triggering of the frequency divider with at least two different frequency divider control signals, and it has a modulation data preprocessing unit, which is connected to the frequency divider control input and is designed to weight samples of the same polarity of the useful signals to be transmitted and to fine tune the frequency divider control signal with regard to the frequency deviation to be induced.

A method of making a wireless communication connection between a patient device and an electromedical implant as communication partners is disclosed, wherein a transmitting unit of the patient device is continually switched on and off, so that the transmitting unit is alternately in an activity phase and an activity pause and during its activity pause at least once sends a recognition signal and wherein a receiving unit of the electromedical implant is continually switched on and off so that the receiving unit is alternately in an activity phase and an activity pause and during its activity phase checks whether the transmitting unit is just then in its activity phase and sends a recognition signal, wherein switching on and off of the receiving unit is so effected that an activity phase and an activity pause of the receiving unit together give an overall duration which differs from the overall duration of an activity phase and an activity pause of the transmitting unit so that within a foreseeable period of time the activity phases of the transmitting unit and the receiving unit overlap and a wireless communication connection between the two communication partners occurs.

Communication module and method of operation thereof

The present invention relates to a phase-locked loop for frequency synthesis, which has a memory for a control value for the controllable oscillator of the phase-locked loop, which is connectable via a first switch to the control input of the controllable oscillator and is implemented to output a stored control value, and whose frequency divider is connectable at its output via a second switch to the reference oscillator.
