A switchable gear drive for a handheld power tool has two gears which are to be engaged via an adjustable switching member, the switching member being in a locked position with a retaining ring which is fixedly held on a housing in a first gear and being in an unlocked position with the retaining ring in a second gear. Furthermore, a spindle for accommodating a tool is drivable by an axially spring-loaded gear wheel supported in the housing, the gear wheel being axially supported on the retaining ring on the side diametrically opposed to the switching member. The retaining ring is designed as a circumferential, closed ring.

A power drill having percussion drilling function, drilling function and screwing function has a gearing for transmitting the drive motion of a drive unit to a tool spindle. A hand-held power tool is provided which includes a clutch housing of a torque clutch, and a planetary gear, situated in a gear housing, for transmitting a torque which is generated by a drive motor to a drive shaft. The clutch housing cooperates with the planetary gear via a pressure plate. The pressure plate is displaced in the axial direction in order to disengage the torque clutch. The axial relative motion of the pressure plate causes an axial relative motion between a switching element and an associated optical sensor, via which the drive motor may be switched off.

A power tool, in particular a hand-held power tool, preferably embodied as a cordless screwdriver, is equipped with a torque limiting unit in which the release torque is settable by way of a locking brace that is equipped with a spring brace for locking elements that abut axially against parts of a planetary drive, in particular the ring gear thereof or the planet carrier thereof as a last gear stage, the spring elements of the spring brace and the locking elements being located with a radial offset from one another.

A hand-held machine tool includes a gear unit and a torque clutch that has a torque-limiting coupling allocated to the gear unit and that is assigned at least one spring element which is clamped between a limit-transfer element and a spring-holding element, and which is designed to apply a predefined spring force to the limit-transfer element axially in the direction of the torque-limiting coupling. Disclosed is a machine tool having a spindle driven by a drive device, the spindle having a receiving device on its free end for a tool or a tool holder, an input part being provided in the drive train of the drive device, the input part transferring a torque having a defined play in the direction of rotation via drivers to an output part which is joined in a rotationally fixed manner to the spindle, while a torque acting from the spindle in the direction of the drive device and exceeding a torque on the input side is supported on the housing of the machine tool via clamping surfaces on the periphery of the output part, via clamping elements and via a locking ring having a hollow cylindrical surface. The output part is a driving profile having two or more axially parallel planes, of which a first part acts as clamping surfaces and a second part acts as driving surfaces which cooperate with the drivers of the input part.
