An electronic module for a vehicle includes a can housing and a circuit carrier having at least one connecting element. The circuit carrier is positioned in the can housing, and is cast with a cast material. The at least one connecting element protrudes from the cast material and is configured to connect at least one conductive element. The electronic module is positioned in the transmission and is configured to be operated.

A connector for one or more optical fibers has a ferrule into which the optical fibers are glued directly with their outer cladding. No stripping of the fibers is required any longer before gluing them to the ferrule and thus, the difficulty of the fragility of the stripped fibers is overcome. The fibers are special fiber having a primary coating with smaller tolerances of &#xb1;2 microns. The fibers are arranged on a flexible foil which forms an optical overlay for a printed circuit board.

An optical waveguide structure has lines (), crossings (), and branchings (). In the area of the branchings (), the waveguide structure consists of planar waveguides made of a waveguide material that is put into troughs () formed into a substrate (). The waveguide material has a higher refractive index than the material delimiting the troughs (). In the area of said crossing () the waveguide structure consists of fibers () which cross in the area of the crossings.
