Composite materials, and sealing foils prepared with such composite materials for sealing a container, where the composite materials include an inner layer configured to face the container during sealing, the inner layer being single- or multi-layer, and including a self-contained and closed weakening line; an outer layer that may be single- or multi-layer, and that is configured to be peeled from the inner layer; where an area of the inner layer delimited by the closed weakening line remains attached to the outer layer when the outer layer is peeled from the inner layer, thereby creating a hole in the inner layer; the outermost of the inner layers is in contact with the outer layer, and includes a semicrystalline ethylene-propylene copolymer that is substantially free of dienes; and the innermost of the outer layers is a barrier layer or a lacquer.

Composite material for the production of sealing foils and sealing foils made therefrom

In order to be able to set the bending stiffness of a composite material having at least two plies connected by a laminating agent, it is provided that a mixture of a first, curing adhesive and a second, non-curing adhesive is used as laminating agent, wherein the bending stiffness of the composite material is set by the mixing ratio of the two adhesives.

For a simple, fast, safe and reliable determination of the layer thickness of a bonding layer between two layers of a packaging, a laser ultrasonic method is provided, in which the transit time of the ultrasonic wave through the first and second packaging layers () is determined in advance, and a maximum (M, M, M) in the measurement signal (S) is sought, and the point in time of occurrence of this maximum (M, M, M) is determined as the total transit time (T, T, T) of the ultrasonic wave, and the transit time of the ultrasonic wave through the first and second packaging layers () is subtracted from the total transit time (T, T, T), and the thickness (d) of the bonding layer is deduced from the known ultrasonic speed (v) in the bonding layer ().

Method for determining the layer thickness of a connecting layer between two packaging layers

Method for producing an aluminum foil with integrated security features. An aluminum foil is rolled down to a thickness of less than 150 &#x3bc;m in a plurality of cold rolling passes, texturing that runs in the direction of rolling being induced simultaneously on both surface sides of the foil. In a final cold rolling pass, the foil is fed to a working roller pair, in which, on at least one roller surface, the relief-like surface structuring generated in the rolling direction by grinding was reduced on the basis of contrast and motif in a region of 10 to 50% relative to the average surface roughness to form a motif for a security feature that is transferred to the surface side of the foil facing the roller surface. The generated aluminum foil has a glossy appearance on both sides such that the security feature rises clearly due to its dull appearance.

A lid () for closing a cup () along a peripheral sealing edge () and a method for producing such a lid. The lid includes at least one aluminum film and an optionally multi-layered plastic layer which is co-extruded onto the aluminum film and has a closed predetermined tearing line (). The plastic layer is made of plastic based on polyethylene (PE) or plastic based on polypropylene (PP), and the predetermined tearing line is introduced into the plastic layer preferably by means of a COlaser. The predetermined tearing line () may be provided directly in the region of the sealing edge ().

Packaging for foodstuffs

A lid for closing containers includes an at least two-layered composite assembly. A layer facing the container seals against a container edge and forms an opening by layer separation, for removing contents. The layers have a continuous construction without weakening lines. The layer facing the container is made mainly of a plastic having an intrinsic tearing resistance being lower in the region of the opening than its adhesion to the layer facing away from the container in a remaining region and an adhesion to the container edge being greater at least in the region of an opening aid than to the other layer. The plastic adheres so strongly to the outer layer in the region of the opening that a region corresponding to the opening is torn out upon opening and a remaining layer of the lid facing the container continues to adhere to the container edge by sealing action.
