The disclosure relates a technique that allows one to identify communication sessions which are mistakenly detected as normally terminated from the network perspective. The first time period is used to monitor normal session releases initiated by a core network (CN) in respect of communication sessions for UEs. The second time period is used to check whether a Radio Link Failure (RLF) timer is already triggered at the time instant when the normal session release(s) is(are) detected by the RAN node within the first time period. If the RLF timer is already triggered, the number of the communication session(s) to be normally released based on the normal session release(s) from the CN is counted and reported to a network management system when the first time period expires. In response, the network management system properly optimizes RAN or other network parameters such that a call drop rate is improved.

Identification of communication sessions mistakenly detected as normally terminated from network perspective

Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods, devices, apparatuses and computer readable storage media for network performance monitoring. In example embodiments, durations of normally released calls and durations of abnormally released calls are monitored during a measurement period. Based on the monitored durations of normally released calls and the monitored durations of abnormally released calls, an average value of the monitored durations of normally released call and an average value of the monitored durations of abnormally released calls are further determined. Then, the average value of the monitored durations of normally released call and the average value of the monitored durations of abnormally released calls are transmitted.

In one example, a network device determines a set of metrics related to quality of service (QoS) performance for a plurality of services in a cell in a measurement period. The network device determines ACB configuration in the cell based on comparison of the set of metrics with a set of thresholds.

An arrangement for prolonging voice service in an active state by forcing a double user equipment context situation. This is achieved by delaying the user equipment context release message from the source cell to the core network. Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for measuring throughput as a measure of performance and/or quality of service are provided. One method comprises, over an observation period for at least one of an uplink direction and a downlink direction, measuring an amount of padding bits in each protocol data unit (PDU) that is successfully transmitted in the said direction and that carries data relevant to a given throughput measure. The method may also comprise transforming the measured amounts of padding bits to the time domain and summing the transformed amounts of padding in the time domain. One method may include sending, by a network node, a grant in uplink to a user equipment that previously indicated a need for data transmission for quality of service (QoS) class identifier (QCI) services. The method may then include storing a time of the uplink grant to the user equipment, and measuring a time point when a last part of a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) serving data unit (SDU) related to QCI services has been confirmed by sending an acknowledgement to the user equipment.
