Various teachings of the present disclosure include an electrical switching device. The device may include: two contactable conductor elements with adjustable spacing set by a movement apparatus; and a housing defining a switching chamber and at least partially surrounding the at least two conductor elements. The housing has an insulator body and regions of an electrical contact. The housing includes an external refraction-controlling coating with a dielectrically insulating matrix made of a material with a permittivity ε>/=2.

Electric switching device for medium- and/or high-voltage uses

Various embodiments include a method for producing a ceramic insulator for a high-voltage or medium-voltage switching system comprising: attaching a base material for an equipotential layer between two axially symmetrical ceramic structural elements; disposing the electrically conductive equipotential layer between the two ceramic structural elements; and joining the two ceramic structural elements to form a unitary body along a symmetry axis of a first of the two elements.

Ceramic insulator

A make contact system for high-voltage applications includes a vacuum switching tube having two switch contacts in the form of plate contacts, of which at least one is a moving contact coupled to a drive. At least one plate contact is rotationally symmetrically surrounded by a shielding element, and the shielding element has an electric conductivity which is less than 40&#xd7;10S/m.

Make contact system

A vacuum interrupter includes a housing having at least one annular ceramic insulating element which forms a vacuum chamber. A contact system has two contacts which are movable relative to one another. A capacitive element has two electrodes and a dielectric material disposed between the electrodes. The capacitive element is form-lockingly mounted on the insulating element and has a capacitance between 400 pF and 4000 pF. A high-voltage switching assembly including the vacuum interrupter is also provided.

Various embodiments include an insulator arrangement for a high-voltage or medium-voltage assembly comprising an axially symmetrical insulating structure element having two annular base regions separated from one another by an annular blocking region. The relative permittivity of the material of the blocking region is at least twice as high as the relative permittivity of the material of the base region.
