The invention relates a method and a device for storing baggage delivered early, so-called early baggage, in traffic facilities, in particular commercial airports, which baggage is delivered to a check-in point a period, for example &#x3e;2 h before the departure time of the respective transport vehicle, whereby this early baggage is being taken into storage until the time when it will be loaded into the respective transport vehicle by placing the baggage into a conveying system and storing it in this system in such a way that it can be removed from storage at any time and is brought via a removal station to the loading, whereby the early baggage is conveyed from the check-in point via a conveyor section of the conveying system to a special intermediate storage place and is handled there item by item mechanically and stacked in a space-saving manner at assigned intermediate storage places, the respective intermediate storage place for the respective baggage is recorded in an electronic data processing system, and the baggage items stored at the intermediate storage place are mechanically removed from the storage place when a predefined time is reached and are transported via the conveyor section to the normal loading process.

Method and apparatus for storing travel luggage

The invention relates to a device and to a method for handling objects, in particular items of luggage. The device has a supporting arm that is freely moveable in at least two axes and that is articulated on a central unit which is positioned at the end of a conveyor belt for conveying objects. The movement of the supporting arm is controlled in a predeterminable manner and a loading device is configured at the free end of the supporting arm. The loading device has a supporting platform for picking up objects and has a rear and a side boundary against which the object that has been picked up in each case rests. The device includes an unloading device which removes the object that has been picked up from the supporting platform.

Device and method for handling objects, in particular items of luggage

A method and an apparatus for automatically loading and unloading piece goods of different shapes, consistencies and masses in a permanently installed conveying system. The relevant piece goods are picked up automatically by a remote controlled apparatus, by the piece goods being gripped by friction by the apparatus and moved onto a pick-up platform belonging to the apparatus. Moreover, the piece goods, after being picked up on the pick-up platform, are secured by force and/or shape against slipping off or falling down until they are unloaded, and the loaded goods being put down automatically by the apparatus at the intended location.

Method and apparatus for automatically loading and unloading piece goods

A process is provided for the automated conveying, sorting and loading of baggage items in airports having a baggage-conveying facility conveying baggage from a check-in region to a baggage area, from where they are transported for loading into aircraft. In a first step, a flight destination and travel class as well as weight, shape, volume and consistency of each baggage item are recorded and registered. In a second step, the recorded baggage data are entered into a computer system (packing computer) which divides the baggage items into predetermined classes and determines optimum assignment to loading devices in accordance with classification and flight destination. In a third step, the baggage items handled in this way are transported to loading stations for loading in accordance with the defined assignment and, in a fourth step, are loaded there into a loading device essentially in an automated manner. A configuration which is suitable for implementing the process is also provided.
