A battery pack has a battery connection assembly for connecting to an electric motor with at least one lithium-based rechargeable cell therein and associated means for turning the at least one lithium-based rechargeable cell ON or OFF. The battery pack is configured to store a reserve within the at least one lithium-based rechargeable cell that is sufficient to start the engine electric motor. The battery pack can be activated by the associated means for turning the at least one lithium-based rechargeable cell ON or OFF to access the reserve to start the engine electric motor.

An improved method and apparatus for powering an electric motor for starting an internal combustion engine in which the electric motor is in a 6 volt to 48 volt operating system, in which an auxiliary battery pack has a battery pack housing; at least one lithium-based rechargeable cell within the housing; associated means for receiving a radio transmitted signal; associated means for turning the rechargeable cell ON or OFF; and battery connections for connecting the auxiliary battery pack to a battery in a 6 volt to 48 volt operating system.

A hose control system is provided. A flow controller has an inlet, an outlet, a fluid flow path defined between the inlet and outlet, and an electrically actuated valve positioned to selectively open or close the fluid flow path. A hose reel device comprises a rotatable spool member onto which a hose can be wound. An electrically controllable motor is connected to rotate the spool member in wind and unwind directions. A hose has a proximal end connected to the spool member. The hose is in fluid communication with the outlet of the flow controller and is configured to be wound upon the spool member. Electronic components are in communication with the valve and the motor. A wireless remote control is configured to transmit wireless command signals to the electronic components for controlling the valve and the motor. The remote control is mounted near a distal end of the hose.

Remote control for hose operation

A hose control system comprising a receiver and a transmitter by which one can remotely control both the flow of water through a hose and the winding or unwinding of the hose onto a reel. The system preferably has power saving advantages, for example, by the use of a power control unit that reduces the power consumed by the electronics of the devices, but does not unreasonably disrupt the use of the devices. The receiver may be used with different aspects or all of the hose control system.

Preferred embodiments of the invention comprise an automatic reel capable assisting a user when attempting to unspool a linear material, such as a water hose. The automatic reel includes a control system having a motor controller capable of sensing a pulling of, or increased tension of, the linear material and capable of causing a motor to rotate to unspool the linear material. In certain embodiments, the motor controller tracks the length of the unspooled portion of the linear material and/or reduces the spooling speed of the motor when retracting a terminal portion of the linear material.

Systems and methods for controlling spooling of linear material

The wheel suspension of the invention is a thin-profile wheel suspension system including spring and dampening mechanisms and an optional brake and drive motor, mounted to a suspension frame in a compact arrangement which permits all or most of the sprung components to be mounted within the volume enclosed by the rim of a wheel, and thus the wheel suspension of the invention may be referred to as an &ldquo;in-wheel suspension&rdquo;. The wheel suspension comprises a hub plate assembly including hub bearings and axle. The hub plate is mounted to a suspension frame by a motion-controlling sliding mount assembly, which connects the hub plate to the suspension frame while it permits the hub plate to slidably move in response to wheel loads. In the preferred embodiment, the suspension frame includes two forks, each fork mounting a sliding rail mount assembly comprising a slide-and-rail mechanism aligned vertically on the suspension frame and mounted to the hub plate. A spring mechanism such as a conventional piston-type shock absorber is mounted connecting to both the hub plate and the suspension frame to provide resilient motion control of the hub plate in response to vehicle weight, vehicle motion and road shock.

In-wheel suspension

A golf club shaft connects a grip of a golf club to a head of the golf club and has a longitudinal axis that extends from the grip of the golf club to the head of the golf club. At least a portion of the shaft has an aerodynamic cross-sectional shape defining an aerodynamic portion of the shaft. The aerodynamic portion of the shaft is oriented along at least a portion of the longitudinal axis of the shaft. The aerodynamic portion of the shaft is oriented relative to the grip and the head such that, compared to a gulf club shaft having a circular cross-sectional shape, the aerodynamic portion of the shaft is able to improve the stability of the shaft as the golf club is swung through the air in a particular with the head oriented to squarely strike a golf ball. The aerodynamic portion of the shaft may be integrally formed as part of the golf club shaft. Alternatively, the aerodynamic portion of the shaft may be by as a separate aerodynamic fin that may be attached to a conventional golf club shaft. In another aspect of the invention, a golf club head includes a striking surface having a plurality of openings formed into the striking surface. The openings extend through the head thereby allowing air to pass through the openings when the golf club is swung in the certain manner.
