A sensor assignment device includes a movement instruction generator for generating and submitting a movement instruction to a distinct one of a plurality of actuators to move a distinct one of a plurality of machine parts, a sensor data receiver for receiving sensor data acquired by a subset of a plurality of sensors, a degree of correlation determiner for determining sensor-specific degrees of correlation between the detected sensor data and the movement instruction, and a sensor assigner for assigning those sensors to the distinct machine part whose sensor-specific degrees of correlation exceed a predetermined threshold or a multiple-step fashion as refinement in case of insufficiently reliable map of affiliations between sensors and machine parts. The received sensor data is used to influence the movement instruction.

There is described an engineering systems and generating projects. The projects are used by runtime systems for the control of device and machine modular arrangements. The control device also stores a desired expansion description which at least comprises which elements the production machine has and which interfaces are said to connect the elements to one another. A data transmission system is described that connects a controller with drives in machine tools and production machines. The controller can be connected via an internal data bus with at least one internal drive, wherein the same data bus profiles are used for the internal data bus as for an external data bus. A user then sees the same data interface both for a central control topology and a drive-based control topology. This allows the user to readily interchange the two topologies and port existing applications to the various control topologies.

Synchronization of a bus master to a bus slave permits the desired hierarchical structuring of buses by virtue of a bus slave on a bus receiving the synchronization information for an associated bus master is disclosed. A phase locked loop is used to filter this clock information and to regenerate missing clock pulses. This clock which is now 'sound,' is supplied to one or more parallel bus masters of other buses, which generate the corresponding clock information using the necessary messages on the respective bus.
