A target includes a target plate and a stabilizing layer which is joined to the rear side of the target plate. The stabilizing layer was produced by high-kinetic-energy spraying of stabilizing material onto the target plate. A process for producing a target is also provided.

Target and process for producing a target

A metallization for a thin-film component includes at least one layer composed of an Mo-based alloy containing Al and Ti and usual impurities. A process for producing a metallization includes providing at least one sputtering target, depositing at least one layer of an Mo-based alloy containing Al and Ti and usual impurities, and structuring the metallization by using at least one photolithographic process and at least one subsequent etching step. A sputtering target is composed of an Mo-based alloy containing Al and Ti and usual impurities. A process for producing a sputtering target composed of an Mo-based alloy includes providing a powder mixture containing Mo and also Al and Ti and cold gas spraying (CGS) of the powder mixture onto a suitable support material.

Metallization for a thin-film component, process for the production thereof and sputtering target

A tubular target for cathode atomization does not have a backing tube and it is made of molybdenum or a molybdenum alloy. The target has an inner surface which is in contact at least in certain regions with a cooling medium, wherein at least one region of the inner surface is separated from the cooling medium by at least one protective device. By way of example, the protective device may be in the form of a polymer layer. The tubular target exhibits outstanding long-term stability.

A process for producing a hard material layer on a substrate. A multilayer coating system is applied to the substrate by alternate deposition of CrTaN and AlTiN by way of physical vapor deposition (PVD). The CrTaN and/or the AlTiN are preferably deposited from a composite target.

Method for producing a hard material layer on a substrate, hard material layer, machining tool and coating source

A coating material has Cr-rich regions having a Cr content &#x3e;95% by mass which form Cr-containing particles. At least some of these particles are present in the form of aggregates or agglomerates, at least some have pores and have in the Cr-rich regions a mean nanohardnessof &#x2264;4 GPa and/or a mean surface area, measured by BET, &#x3e;0.05 m/g. The coating material is particularly suitable for cold gas spraying. There is also described a process for the production of a coating, and to a coating produced by the process.

Coating material

A container includes at least two interconnected parts which are connected to one another at least in some regions by a thermally sprayed layer. At least one part is formed of a refractory metal or a refractory metal alloy. The container makes it possible to provide great variety, both with regard to form and dimensions of the container, which is impermeable to ceramic melts even under high operating temperatures. A method for producing a container is also provided.

Container of refractory metal

A process for producing a layer or a body built up of layers. A process gas which has a pressure of &#x3e;10 bar is accelerated in a convergent-divergent nozzle and a coating material which is formed by particles and is composed of Mo, W, an Mo-based alloy or a W-based alloy is injected into the process gas. The particles are at least partly present as aggregates and/or agglomerates. It is possible to produce dense layers and components in this way. We also describe layers and components having a microstructure with cold-deformed grains having a high aspect ratio.

Process for producing a layer

A cutting tool for metal material processing has a hard metal body and a multi-layer coating applied to the hard metal body in at least one surface area. The multi-layer coating includes the following, sequentially in direction from the hard metal body to the surface of the cutting tool: at least one layer TiCN, where x+y=1, x&#x2267;0, y&#x3e;0; at least one layer TiCNO, where x+y+z=1, 0&#x2266;z&#x2266;0.03 and 0.5&#x2266;x&#x2266;0.85; at least one layer TiN, or TiCN, where 0.2&#x2266;x&#x2266;0.8 and x+y=1, or TiNB, where 0.0001&#x2266;v&#x2266;0.05 and y+v=1; at least one layer: TiNBO, where y+v+z=1 and 0.0001&#x2266;v&#x2266;0.05 and 0.01&#x2266;z&#x2266;0.6, or TiCNO, where x+y+z=1 and 0&#x2266;y&#x2266;0.5 and 0.01&#x2266;z&#x2266;0.6; and at least one outer layer &#x3ba;-AlO. The at least one layer TiCNOhas a texture in the direction having a texture coefficient TC=1.3.

Cutting tool for machining metallic materials

A monolayer or multilayer nitridic or carbonitridic hard material coating contains Al and Ti and at least one of the layers comprises the composition (AlTiRuMe) (NC), with 0.45&#x2266;x&#x2266;0.75, 0.20&#x2266;y&#x2266;0.55, 0.001&#x2266;z&#x2266;0.10. 0&#x2266;v&#x2266;0.20, 0.8&#x2266;a&#x2266;1.1. Me is selected from the group of elements including Si, B, W, Mo, Cr, Ta, Nb, V, Hf, Zr. The Ru-containing hard material coating has a decreasing hardness shifted towards the higher temperature range and therefore an improved wear resistance.

Al-Ti-Ru-N-C hard material coating

A multi-layer CVD coating has at least one coating layer made of a metallic hard material layer X having a thickness of 10 to 90 nm, and at least one additional coating layer made of a metallic hard material layer Y doped with boron, having a boron content of 0.005 to 5 At. % and a thickness of 10 to 90 nm. At least one coating layer X adjoins a coating layer Y. The novel coatings exhibit significantly improved wear resistance.

Multilayer CVD-coating and tool with such a coating

A tool consists of a base material selected from cemented carbide, tool steels, cermet, or hard materials, and a coating of two or more layers. At least one coating layer has the composition Ti&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Ta&#x2014;N and at least one further coating layer has the composition Ti&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Ta-Me-N. The component Me is one more elements selected from the group consisting of Si, V, B. The tool, which is preferably a wearing part, is distinguished by a high wear resistance that improves the service life, in particular where high demands are imposed on the tool.

Coated tool

The wearing part, such as a cutting insert, is made from hard metal or cermet. A hard-material coating is applied on the base material. The coating includes a single-layer or multilayer mixed-oxide coat, predominantly comprising Al O , in which defined proportions of titanium oxide and boron oxide are dissolved or homogeneously distributed extremely finely. The wearing part is distinguished by a high wear resistance, which improves the service life, and a fine-grained structure and uniformity of the coat and by a highly economic application of the coat.
