Methods, apparatuses, and systems for monitoring gas leaks are disclosed herein. An example Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) may comprise: a sampling tube fluidly coupled to a first opening defined in a conduit; and a sensor assembly fluidly coupled to the sampling tube. The sampling tube is positioned exterior to the conduit and extending along a direction of a gravitation force. The sensor assembly is configured to receive one or more gases that have a greater density in comparison to the ambient air and sense the one or more gases to generate a signal.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for gas leak detection

Methods, apparatuses, and systems for providing a position sensing component are disclosed herein. An example sensor assembly may comprise: a primary sensing device, a reference sensing device located in proximity to the primary sensing device; and a flue coupled with one of the primary sensing device and the reference sensing device to provide a pathway for a first gas in a first area to access the one of the primary sensing device and the reference sensing device. The one of the primary sensing device and the reference sensing device is coupled to the flue and is configured to determine a first concentration level of the first gas in the first area. The other of the primary sensing device and the reference sensing device is configured to determine a second concentration level of the first gas in a second area.

An integrated sensor for detecting gases present in an environment is provided. The integrated sensor comprises a first gas sensor and a second gas sensor. The first gas sensor is configured to measure a first gas and the second gas sensor is configured to measure a second gas. The first gas is different from the second gas. The first gas sensor is an optical sensor and defines an optical cavity. The second gas sensor is disposed within the optical cavity of the first gas sensor.

Integrated sensor

Various methods and apparatuses are provided for monitoring and detecting gas leaks. A method of determining a gas leak with a sensor assembly is provided. The sensor assembly includes a primary sensing device and a reference sensing device. The method includes receiving, via the primary sensing device, a first oxygen concentration level reading of a given area. The method also includes receiving, via the reference sensing device, a second oxygen concentration level reading of the given area. The method further includes comparing the first oxygen concentration level reading and the second oxygen concentration level reading. Based on the comparison, the method still further includes causing a transmission of a signal that a gas leak is occurring in an instance in which the first oxygen concentration level reading and the second oxygen concentration level reading have a difference greater than a threshold difference. A corresponding gas detection apparatus is also provided.

Gas leakage monitoring system

Apparatus and associated methods relate to height-differentiated gas detection sensors attached to one or more tethers suspended from an unmanned air vehicle (UAV) platform. In an illustrative example, each of the gas sensors, for example, may communicate gas detection signal information to a signal processing module onboard the UAV platform. Each of the tethers, for example, may provide a data channel from the sensor to the signal processing module. Some tethers, for example, may supply operating power to one or more of the gas detection sensors. The UAV platform may advantageously deploy one or more low-cost, disposable, tethered gas detection sensors into vertically confined spaces (e.g., chimneys, vents), or along a length of pipeline, for example. The sensors may be deployed at a minimum predetermined height providing separation from the UAV to attenuate prop-wash with respect to the sensors.

A method for gas detection may comprise providing a gas sealed in a cavity of a gas detector; directing radiative power from a light source through one or more target gases and through a cell body of the gas detector toward the cavity and a wavelength selective absorber of the gas detector, wherein the one or more target gases are located between the light source and the cavity; setting wavelength sensitivity with the wavelength selective absorber, wherein the wavelength sensitivity is irrespective of an angle of incidence (?); absorbing the radiative power by the wavelength selective absorber and by the one or more target gases; detecting, by a pressure sensing element, a pressure change caused by the absorbing of the radiative power; and determining the one or more target gases based on the detected pressure change.

One or more embodiments include a gas sensor, comprising: a dual wavelength source to transmit a first wavelength and a second wavelength via an optical path, wherein a gas is present through the optical path, a detector to receive the first wavelength and the second wavelength via the optical path, and a computing device coupled to the detector to determine an determine a signal intensity for the first wavelength and the second wavelength.

A sensor system having an analyte modulator, detector and a pump. The concentration of an analyte sample may be modulated at one time constant. The detector may have an output with a drift at another time constant. The one time constant may be shorter than the latter time constant. The latter time constant may be substantially removed from the detector output with a discriminator. A reservoir may receive high concentrations of analyte from the modulator, before analyte is forwarded to the detector and pump via analyte conveyance lines and valving. The modulation or pre-concentration of analyte in the sensor system may entail shorter times and smaller volumes than those needed by the detector. Such mismatches may be alleviated via accumulation of analyte in the reservoir prior to being forwarded to the detector.
