The present invention relates to a transparent, peelable polyester film incorporating at least one biaxially oriented polyester film (=base layer (B)) and at least one peelable covering layer (A) coated offline thereon, in which the covering layer (A) is at least 85 wt. % made up of a polyester of aromatic and aliphatic dicarboxylic acids and aliphatic diols, and the arithmetic mean value of the absolute ordinate values Sof the covering layer (A) is less than 300 nm and the reduced peak height Sof the covering layer (A) is less than 700 nm. A transparent, peelable polyester film is provided with clarity greater than 80% including a biaxially oriented polyester film as base layer (B) and an offline coated heat-sealable outer layer (A) that is peelable relative to ready-meal APET or RPET trays.
