Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an electronic cigarette with improved aerosol delivery characteristics. For example, an electronic cigarette consistent with the present disclosure may include a wick capable of enhanced delivery of electronic cigarette juice to a heating element. In particular, the wick may be a stainless-steel, wire mesh. In some specific embodiments, the wick may be coated to improve its electrically insulative characteristics.

A device for generating a condensation aerosol includes vaporization chamber having an upstream first inlet and a downstream outlet. A tube supplies liquid to a heater in the vaporization chamber. The liquid is pumped out of the tube and onto the heater, which vaporizes the liquid. Air flows from inlets through the vaporization chamber, and generally perpendicular to the tube. The vaporized liquid is entrained in the air, forming a condensation aerosol having a particle size in a selected range. A second inlet provides a substantially laminar flow of air into the airflow path, wherein the second inlet is downstream of the heater; and the device capable of changing air flow in the vaporization chamber to change the particle size of the condensation aerosol and/or to change the amount of visible vapor emitted from the device.

Inhalation delivery of aerosols containing small particles is described. Specifically, it relates to a device that forms drug containing aerosols for use in inhalation therapy. In a device aspect of the present disclosure, a device for delivering drug containing aerosols for inhalation therapy is provided. The device includes a housing and an airway that has a gas/vapor mixing airway. The airway further includes a subassembly, which has a metallic substrate coated on its surface with a composition comprising a drug.

Aspects of the instant disclosure relate to electronic cigarettes with an active delivery system for transporting a liquid solution from a tank to an atomizer; and more particularly to oscillating diaphragm pumps that facilitate flow of the liquid solution from the tank and onto a heating coil of an atomizer for vaporization.

A device for generating a condensation aerosol includes (a) vaporization chamber having an upstream first inlet and a downstream outlet; (b) a heater element in the vaporization chamber between the upstream first inlet and the downstream outlet; (c) an airflow path in fluid communication with the vaporization chamber, wherein the airflow path comprises a second inlet configured to permit a substantially laminar flow of air into the airflow path, wherein the second inlet is downstream of the heater element; and (d) the device having components or apparatus on or in the device for changing air flow in the vaporization chamber. Methods and devices for modulating air flow in delivery devices

The present invention provides novel condensation aerosols for the treatment of disease and/or intermittent or acute conditions. These condensation aerosols have little or no pyrolysis degradation products and are characterized by having an MMAD of between 1-3 microns. These aerosols are made by rapidly heating a substrate coated with a thin film of drug having a thickness of between 0.05 and 20 &#x3bc;m, while passing a gas over the film, to form particles of a desirable particle size for inhalation. Kits comprising a drug and a device for producing a condensation aerosol are also provided. The device contained in the kit typically, has an element for heating the drug which is coated as a film on the substrate and contains a therapeutically effective dose of a drug when the drug is administered in aerosol form, and an element allowing the vapor to cool to form an aerosol. Also disclosed, are methods for using these aerosols and kits.

Also described herein are methods, devices, kits, and systems for modulating the delivery of aerosol particles generated by an aerosol generating device (e.g., an electronic nicotine delivery device) to the deep lung of a subject.
