Disclosed are a method for preparing a linseed polysaccharide having antiviral activity and immunological activity, food and healthare products and methods of treatment using the linseed polysaccharide. The method comprises the steps of: using the linseeds as raw materials, pulverizing the linseeds, separating the husks from the kernels of the linseeds, extracting by the microwave-assisted hot water extraction, deproteinizing by the Sevage method, carrying out ethanol precipitation, and freeze-drying to obtain the linseed crude polysaccharides, then carrying out ion-exchange column chromatography, Sephadex gel column chromatography, and ultra-filtration so as to obtain the linseed triple-helix polysaccharides.

Method for preparing linseed polysaccharide having antiviral activity and immunological activity, and use of the linseed polysaccharide

The present disclosure relates to a process for the production of a base complex catalyst comprising reacting a hydroxide base with a polyalcohol, under vacuum pressure, at a temperature in the range of about 60&#xb0; C. to about 220&#xb0; C., wherein the mole ratio of the hydroxide base to the polyalcohol is greater than about 2:1.

Process for the production of polyol base catalysts

The present invention relates to a process of preparing fatty alkyl esters (biodiesel), glycerin and lithium soap comprising: a) transesterifying an oil, fat or grease with a solution of lithium base in a monohydric aliphatic alcohol to produce fatty alkyl esters and a lithium alkaline glycerin; b) separating the fatty alkyl esters and the lithium alkaline glycerin and utilizing the lithium alkaline glycerin to saponify fatty alkyl compounds to produce glycerin and lithium soap; and c) optionally, separating the glycerin and lithium soaps.

Process for the preparation of biodiesel

Co-product streams derived from the manufacture of vegetable oil were further processed producing materials that possess strong absorbance of visible and ultraviolet light. The compounds contributing to the light absorbance were increased and standardized to produce a fat-soluble composition with consistent and strong absorbance of ultraviolet and visible light. The fat-soluble composition is a useful photoprotective agent for various applications including protection of herbicides and pesticides. In a preferred embodiment acidulated vegetable oil is blended to a constant absorbance of light between 190 and 400 nm and used in a formula to protect a field-applied herbicide.

Oil soluble photoprotective compounds and compositions from plant oil processing

Methods for sequential saponification and quantitative isomerization of glyceride oils containing interrupted double bond systems, with alkali in a polyether alcohol solvent to yield soaps with conjugated double bond systems are disclosed. The novel properties of the polyether alcohols allow the removal of water added with the alkali by boiling. The preferred embodiment uses a vegetable oil rich in linoleic acid such as sunflower or safflower oil, potassium hydroxide, phosphoric acid to neutralize the soaps. The reaction forms equal quantities of 9Z,11E-octadecadienoic acid and 10E,12Z-octadecadienoic acids.

Method for commercial preparation of preferred isomeric forms of ester free conjugated fatty acids with solvents systems containing polyether alcohol solvents

Methods for quantitative conversion of soapstock, lecithin gums, deodorizer distillate and other by-products of vegetable oil refining containing interrupted double bond systems, to products with conjugated double bonds, using a reduced amount of alkali. Less than one mole of alkali per mole of acyl group present is required, thereby greatly reducing the need for added caustic compared with methods using oils, fatty acids and esters as starting materials. The preferred starting materials are soapstocks derived from vegetable oils rich in linoleic acid.

Method for commercial preparation of conjugated linoleic acid from by-products of vegetable oil refining

Conjugated linoleic acid is readily prepared by mixing crude alkaline glycerol solution derived as a byproduct of triglyceride transesterification and a linoleate rich triglyceride, ester, soap, phospholipid, fatty acid, or wax and heating the mixture sufficiently to conjugate the linoleate double bonds. The reaction produces a favorable isomer mixture enriched in 10,12-trans,cis octadecadienoic and 9,11-cis,trans-octadecadienoic acids.
