A syringe for a fluid delivery system includes a pressure jacket having a distal end, a proximal end, and a throughbore therebetween. The syringe further includes a rolling diaphragm having a proximal end with an end wall for engaging a plunger, a distal end received within the throughbore of the pressure jacket. The distal end of the rolling diaphragm has a nozzle and a sidewall extending between the proximal end and the distal end of the rolling diaphragm along a longitudinal axis. At least a portion of one of the sidewall and the end wall has non-uniform thickness. At least a portion of the sidewall is flexible and rolls upon itself when acted upon by the plunger such that an outer surface of the sidewall at a folding region is folded in a radially inward direction as the plunger is advanced from the proximal end to the distal end of the rolling diaphragm.

Syringe with rolling diaphragm

A rolling diaphragm syringe includes a proximal end having an end wall, a distal end having an open-ended discharge neck, a sidewall extending along a longitudinal axis, and a piston engagement portion protruding proximally from a central portion of the end wall and configured for engagement with a piston of a fluid injector. The piston engagement portion has a stem with a first end attached to the end wall, a second end extending proximally from the first end, and at least one protrusion that protrudes radially outward. The sidewall is flexible and rolls upon itself when acted upon by the piston such that an outer surface of the sidewall is folded in a radially inward direction as the piston is advanced from the proximal end to the distal end, and unfolded in a radially outward direction as the piston is retracted from the distal end to the proximal end.

A syringe for a fluid delivery system includes a pressure jacket having a distal end, a proximal end, and a throughbore therebetween. A syringe containing a high water content product and for use in a drug infusion system is provided. The syringe includes a plunger carrying front and rear o-rings made of a diene rubber compound such as chlorobutyl rubber or bromobutyl rubber to impart very low gas permeability characteristics to the o-rings. The plunger may be molded as a single part or in two parts. If molded as one part with radially-engaging mold portions, the seal glands in the plunger may include parting lines from the mold. If molded as two parts with axially-engaging mold portions, the front seal gland may include a sealing surface and under cut that has no parting line. The o-rings may be surface treated with a lubricant to improve sealing where the molding process gives rise to parting lines in the seal glands.

Sealing arrangement for syringe

A syringe includes a barrel, a plunger, and a sealing member creating a seal between the plunger and the barrel. The barrel includes a first portion with a first inner diameter and a second portion with a second inner diameter that is larger than the first inner diameter. The sealing member engages the first portion of the barrel to give rise to a first contact pressure when the barrel is filled with product. The first contact pressure is sufficient to maintain a gas-tight seal over the expected temperature ranges &#x2212;25&#xb0; C. to 40&#xb0; C. A first force is applied to the plunger to overcome the first contact pressure and move the plunger out of the first portion and into the second portion to dispense product. The sealing member engages the second portion of the barrel to give rise to a second contact pressure that is lower than the first contact pressure. A second force lower than the first force is sufficient to overcome the second contact pressure and move the plunger in the second portion to continue dispensing product. The syringe may include a restraining element for accommodating expansion of the product during freezing.

Syringe with two-stage sealing pressure

A sealable container () for flowable material formed with top () and flexible and stiffened bottom () walls joined by front (), rear (), and opposite side walls (). The top wall including an openable lid (D) formed with an improved scoop holder () and a collar () received about a finish () of the front, rear, and side walls. The flexible and stiffened bottom wall () includes at least one sagittal stiffening channel () and an optional transverse stiffening channel (). The openable lid includes a sealing wall () that cooperates with other improved container components to prevent spillage of the flowable material after the seal is peeled and removed.
